We had the good fortune of connecting with Jenny Geyser and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jenny, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
Definitely self-care! I practice the daily wellness methods I share with my clients. I often have a hectic schedule, between teaching public classes at Equinox, and running my coaching business. I incorporate morning and evening rituals, such as meditation, journaling, green juices and Ayurvedic practices like oil pulling and dry skin brushing. I also make sure to get some movement in everyday. Ideally, a full yoga practice, or on busier days a long walk with my dog is great. It’s so important to take care of ourselves really well, which enables us to give more back to others. I honor my need to rest, eat nourishing foods, and get enough sleep. This all helps me feel my best and is what I truly believe has helped me succeed.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve been working in the fitness and wellness industry for over 20 years now! I started as a personal trainer early in my 20s, and fell in love with the industry. Training led me to teaching group classes, like cycling, Pilates and Barre, and then about 10 years ago, I started teaching yoga. Yoga by far changed my life. The breath to movement connection in Vinyasa yoga, mixed with the strength, flexibility and meditation elements, is what I find so magical about the practice. And it’s not just the benefits for the physical body, yoga is amazing for stress relief and stress management, which is the focus of my wellness coaching practice. Having also studied years of nutrition, specializing in plant-based intuitive eating, I help my clients find the optimal nutrition for their body so they increase energy, lose excess weight, sleep better, and feel amazing 🙂
Through all of my own trial and error over the years (I had tried every type of diet, workout and health trend there is!) I put together everything I learned over 20 years, and wrote Your Six-Steps To Glow©, which is currently an eBook that I’m working to get published. It’s what I truly believe is the formula for vibrant health and ultimate wellness.
I then developed my own signature coaching program called The 90 Day Holistic Reset Method©, in which I help overwhelmed creative professionals release chronic stress and find joy through optimal nutrition, yoga, mindset shifts, and soul work (affirmations/journaling/meditation/developing intuition), and utilizing my Six-Step process.
I’ve definitely overcome a lot to get to where I am today. It’s all been an incredible learning process, and about getting out of my comfort zone (teaching yoga and wellness comes naturally to me, but business and marketing does not!). There has been a lot of trial and error. Overall, I’ve learned to listen to my heart, be authentic to who I am no matter what, and come from a place of love and compassion to serve my clients in the best way possible.
I believe what is unique to my brand, is that I address those suffering from chronic stress, from a physical, mental, emotional and energetic standpoint. Creating balance between these elements is what ultimately helps to release, realign and reset, in order to find true health. Wellness is the body being in balance. Stress is due to something in your life being out of balance. I help my clients find the source of stress, and to heal from it, so they’re able reclaim their peace, find calm, and live from a place of joy everyday.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I was born and raised in LA, so I have many favorites! We would definitely head to Malibu one day. Start with a hike in the Palisades at Temescal or Los Leones Trail. If it’s a warm, sunny day (which it usually is here!) we’d go to Zuma Beach after the hike, stopping at Caffe Luxxe in Malibu for some great coffee and snacks. After the beach, we’d go to Malibu Farms restaurant on the pier for a late lunch and amazing ocean views.
Another day, we may do a Runyon hike (I personally love Runyon because I can take my dog, and the city views are incredible!) We’d then get a great meal in West Hollywood at Crossroads, Pura Vita or Gracias Madre which are my favorite vegan restaurants in the city!
If my friend was new to LA, we’d head to Venice (because everyone needs to experience Venice lol 🙂 , stop at Groundwork for more amazing coffee and treats, take a walk on the boardwalk, then head to Abbot Kinney to eat at The Butcher’s Daughter (more yummy vegan/veg food!). Then perhaps later on go for happy hour, sunset and more stunning views at the Penthouse at The Huntley in Santa Monica.
I could go on and on but those would be my top fun outings! 🙂
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate my Shoutout to my amazing friend, Alisha Randall! She recommended me for this series, and has always been one of my biggest supporters. We’ve been friends for 20 years, and met while working in the fitness industry. She has been a huge part of my journey in holistic wellness, and I’m so grateful to have her in my life!
