Meet Jeremy Acosta | Technical Director & Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeremy Acosta and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jeremy, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have been fortunate enough to work in the event production field for a couple different companies. But there was always this passion and desire to create something that is mine. Starting my own business gave me an outlet to be able to do things, how I wanted them to be done. From sourcing new clients to client interactions and event execution. I was able to take my experiences from other jobs and apply them successfully to the business.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is JA Event Production. We provide sound, lighting, video and staging for live events all over Southern California and beyond. We’ve been in business since 2018. What I am most proud of is that we are a small but mighty business that takes the time to listen to the clients event needs. Every event has unique challenges and our team is always ready to jump in and figure out solutions.
It was not easy starting a business from the ground up. I’m all street knowledge when it comes to business, so it came down to doing a lot of research and confiding in friends who had that knowledge. But what I did have, was experience with reaching out to new clients and a game plan of how we set ourselves apart from the rest. I am really proud of the client list we have built along the years.
Starting a business or becoming an entrepreneur can be challenging, but it is possible. Do your research, plan ahead and ask questions. Knowledge and organization are key, oh and being a good person too helps.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Being in Southern California, you have access to so many places to visit and eat. There is never a dull moment. I grew up in Orange County, so visiting Disneyland or going to an Angels game would be on that list. For the ultimate tourist, you can never go wrong with the Hollywood Walk of Fame or Dodger stadium.
The amount of good food we have access to, is insane. I’m always down for street tacos and a drink with a chamoy rim, so you better believe we will be going to a taco stand.
There is also nothing better than being out and listening to live music. Live music and dancing is the heart and soul of a community.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family has always been great supporters of mine, especially my wife Amanda. She is the backbone of everything I do. I also want to shout out the many skilled, passionate technicians that have worked events for me, over the years. The dedication to their craft is also what keeps me motivated.
