We had the good fortune of connecting with Jesse Gonzales and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jesse, why did you pursue a creative career?
Growing up I never fit in with others and knew from a very young age that I wanted to work in the entertainment industry. Fantasy, pop music, anime and horror movies really made an impact on me as a youth. I did not do well in the generic school environment and standard learning, unfortunately, standing out for my nerdy personality only made it harder to be liked and understood. My dreams were always too far out or “impossible“, but they were what kept me alive through some of the most difficult times in my life. I knew if I didn’t take risks and listen to the voice inside I wouldn’t be pursuing my dreams today.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have always had a love and passion for music. Growing up I would be obsessed with discovering new artists or songs from all cultures. Video game music made a huge impact on me and so did cinematic. I explored all parts of artistry by dabbling in acting, videography, singing, dancing, photography and then I discovered the world of music production. That’s when I knew it was fate. It takes my love for music and puts the creative process in my hands… back in 2008 I was exposed to a music production program and thought how awesome is that, but I didn’t truly start exploring that world until 2014 and over time I’ve had the honor of creating so many amazing tracks. I’ve been able to create tracks for other artists and also produced music for bloggers and podcasters. I took a risk in 2019 and moved to Las Vegas for a year and was out performing my music on a weekly basis and discovered I enjoyed producing more then being on stage. I met some amazing artists and got to collaborate with some up and coming musicians in the area. I learned so many lessons over the year, like you can’t trust just anyone and people who you think might have your best interest at heart, can truly be a wild in sheep’s clothing. Also, trusting your instincts and following your heart when it comes to your passion and goals, don’t underestimate your intuition and take opinions with a grain of salt, because ultimately you know what’s best for you and your career path. My goal is to make music for films, video games and tv shows. I want the world to enjoy the creations I put out. live your life like you won’t wake up tomorrow, because tomorrow is never promised and you deserve to be happy. Even if no one is cheering for, believing in yourself will always be the real power in your life.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take my best friend out to eat the best Japanese ramen in town or we would go out for Dimsum and then head over to get desserts at a local bakery! Having drinks at a brewery or on the rooftop of a nice hotel, or escape to the beach for sunshine and lemon drops. Exploring the giant trees on the coastline or camping in the forest. Dancing at a local club and drag shows and mimosas on a Friday or Saturday morning for brunch! Driving out to the country and sitting on the hood of the car and listening to nostalgic music and counting the stars. We could even hit up the local arcade and spend all day playing games and winning prizes, honestly just depends on what they would wanna do, but the options are definitely available 🙂
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would definitely like to give a shout out to the ones who have continued to support me and help me see that there’s no limitations to following your dreams. Each person knows who they are and the impact they have had on me, so i love you and thank you!
