We had the good fortune of connecting with Joli & Alexi Irvine and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joli & Alexi, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
We have wanted to have a business & brand together since we were kids. When COVID shut down our shows and left us with no jobs…we knew we needed an outlet to stay motivated, inspired, and creative with our passions in the forefront… not only for ourselves but also for our community to join along in. We knew that there would be many of our friends, family members, co-workers, and even new comers who would be looking for this very same path to keep their tools sharp which are most prominently our bodies and minds… so we created TheWellnessBlend with Alexi as our Precision Nutrition certified Nutritionist, Certified National Academy of Sport Medicine Personal Trainers, and as well as years of experience as professional performers. We are here to help guide people along on their wellness journey to feel confident in their minds and bodies through a balanced lifestyle.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Growing up we were competitive dancers that then went on to graduate from the Conservatory Of Performing Arts at Point Park University. We both did one cruise ship contact upon graduating with Holland America Cruise Line. After disembarking from the ship, Joli bought a one way ticket to Las Vegas with no plan but to do what she loved for a living. After living in The Hard Rock Hotel for two weeks on the Las Vegas Strip she landed her first show in Las Vegas which was the classic, Don Arden’s, Jubilee! A year and a half later the show was “Reimagined” which allowed Joli to work with more choreographers in the industry including the Infamous Frank Gatson, Anthony Burrell, and Ashley Evertte. From there she went on to Perform in the Inaugural Cast of Steve Wynn’s Showstoppers where she had the opportunity to work with the Iconic Choreographers & Directors Marguerite Derricks and Philip McKinley as well as Singing and Acting Coach Patrick Cassidy. Upon the Closing of Steve Wynn’s Showstoppers Joli went on to perform in Le Reve, Fantasy -working with Director and Choreographer Anita Mann and Mandy Moore, and she currently performs nightly with Cirque Du Soleil’s Zumanity executing choreography by Yanis Marshall. You can also catch Joli in an Episode of Glow on Netflix. In recent years, Joli has been featured in National and Regional Print Work Modeling and Runway Shows. Other Artists & Choreographers Joli has had the ability to perform along side and with include, Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, Gwen Stefani, Juanes, CeeLo Green, and Ekoh. After Alexi graduated from Park University, She professionally danced on the Holland America Cruise Line and studied nutrition, immediately after she joined her sister in Las Vegas! When She got to town and settled Alexi started cocktailing at the Rio as a “Bevertainer”. In her spare time she would attend as many auditions as possible, she was turned away numerous times, and she wasn’t feeling like herself in her body. Alexi was struggling to balance her nutrition and get her body back since dancing on the cruise ship changed it. After a while she realized she needed a break from dancing and auditioning. That’s when she stepped into the world of fitness and Fitness competitions. It was always a dream of hers and she figured why not?! Alexi worked very hard with a nutritionist and trainer and won many shows, one show she is most proud of is the Arnold Amateur 2015 where she took 4th overall in the bikini c division! After that Alexi started to slow down on the fitness shows and again her body was acting up. Alexi took the time to work on herself reverse dieted and got back into the dance world. She then had the opportunity to dance with Donny and Marie Osmond , Legends in Concert, Vegas! The Show, Hans Klok Fastest illusionist in the world, Mayfair Supper Club, Netta, Eva Simmons and more. During that time she realized she never wanted any person to ever have to worry about nutrition or training again and she wanted to be that person to help and motivate others to find their balanced lifestyle. We are so thankful for all of the lessons we have learned along the way. One lesson being that nutrition not only affects your body but also your mindset & that balancing your nutrition can help your body perform optimally. How having a positive outlook, being confident in yourself but humble, living life in your passions, and performing from your heart is what truly guides each persons path. We want to help people have that confidence to be able to understand their bodies and minds and to use this knowledge and training to stay motivated, have fun, and working towards their personal goals and/or simply enjoying the wellness of a balanced lifestyle. We never want anyone to feel how we have felt at times in our lives when we have felt helpless. You are supported and We are here to go through it all with you.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would drive to LA from Las Vegas where we currently reside with freshly juiced celery juice. We then would prepare to go on a hike as being in nature is one of our favorite pass times. Immersing yourself in nature calms the mind and releases endorphins & the sense of well being. After our hike we would catch the sunset at Malibu beach while restoring our bodies with a restorative stretch and mediation. Finishing up the night enjoying a delicious fresh plant based meal from Malibu Farm Pier Cafe.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We wouldn’t be where we are today without the love and support from our family and friends. We are forever grateful to our parents for having us so close in age. We are 16 months apart and couldn’t imagine life without each other. We have danced together since we were 3 & 4 years old. Our parents have taught us to always strive to be our best selves bettering ourselves from the day before and we always hold each other to that way of thinking. We see the positivity in life and know that our dreams are always a possibility and our reality is what we make it. Having such loving parents and friends in life that support us, cheer us on, and reassure us that we can do anything we want to has only made life that much sweeter.
