We had the good fortune of connecting with jordan greenfield and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi jordan, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Any success I have had I attribute to the people I have surrounded myself with. If I have one trait that differentiates me from others it is my ability to rally the brightest minds and the most passionate individuals around a common mission and goal.
Individually, I would say the trait that has kept me passionate and committed to the ultimate goal through the unavoidable hurdles you face as a founder, including surviving a global pandemic, that trait would without a doubt be persistence. I refuse to lose and that is a mentality my team has embraced and embodies on a daily basis.
In regards to the success of our brand, we have never wavered from who we are. Like us or hate us, we are who we are and have been authentic and real since day one with our users and audience. We are obsessed with providing the best experience possible for our users who first began as our peers before quickly shifting to individuals like 50 Cent, Steve Aoki, Chris Paul, Katie Austin, Dillon Francis, Rachel Cook, Mandy Sacs, Lewis Howes, and so many more incredible creators.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The product we launched came as a result of a pivot during the pandemic. We have been students of the influencer / creator world for years and had a unique understanding of where the industry was going.
If it wasn’t for my team’s persistence and understanding of the space we would have had to shut down as a result of the pandemic like 99.9% of other early stage companies. With that said, my team never looked at this as an option and as a result we came out the other end of the pandemic valued at 6X what we were at the start.
We launched hoo.be pages during the pandemic in order to link top creators and celebrities directly to their audience and allow them to showcase everything they do across the web. We chose to keep our platform invite-only for top creators and celebrities so we could have a direct focus on a core user group that we could build and provide solutions for. This focus on a specific user group has allowed us to really dig in and extract the problems they face and quickly turn around and build and ultimately provide solutions for our users.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
At the start of the pandemic my team and I packed up our things and moved from Boston to Vegas so we would not be confined to our small Boston apartments for an extended period of time. This allowed us the opportunity to become very close as a team and work around the clock.
The reality is, I don’t have friends these days. My friends are the people I work with who I consider to be my family. But if one of my friends were to visit Vegas they would not get the traditional Vegas experience.
Early on into our time in Vegas we discovered Lake Mead, which is 30 minutes away from the craziness of the Las Vegas strip. If you are not familiar with Lake Mead, this is also where the Hoover Dam is and it is heaven on earth. If a friend were to be visiting I would pack up the truck and cooler and head out on a boat on lake mead. We would cruise on the lake for hours and hours until the sunset listening to Post Malone and talking about our plans to build and take over.
That is all me and my friends talk about. What and how we are going to build and the ultimate impact it will have.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many incredible mentors that have been a part of my entrepreneurial journey over the last 5 years and have really allowed me to live out my dream. These individuals include people like Jay Cardiello, Corentin Villemeur, and Nick Pirollo to name a few. They have had unwavered belief in me since day one and I am forever grateful for that.
I believe a lot of entrepreneurs or people building something from the ground up go into everything they do with a “prove people wrong” attitude. What drives me is flipping this around with the primary goal of “proving people right.” What I mean by this is I want to make the people that believed in me from day one look smart for betting on me. This can be anything from mentors to investors who took out their checkbook when I was just a young passionate kid with a vision and dream.
