We had the good fortune of connecting with Josh DeAngelis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Josh, how does your business help the community?
Along with our management roster pushing forward their respective narratives for social change (Jax James TikTok Trailblazer, Feb 2021; Chrissy Chlapecka TikTok Trailblazer, June 2022), Palette runs a small, but mighty marketing arm focused mainly on social-good causes. In 2021, Palette was enlisted by Made To Save to increase vaccine adoption – the goal was to drive a positive conversation while dispelling common misconceptions about the vaccine and employing a “soft sell” based on trust and community discussion. The results were nearly 100M views on #MadetoSave hashtag (notice all the Palette Pals https://www.tiktok.com/tag/madetosave) and a feature in the NYTimes, as well as dedicated segments on Good Morning America and Nightline.

What should our readers know about your business?
Palette is a full service talent agency; our clients are award winners + nominees (Streamys, VidCon Features, TikTok Trailblazers, Cannes Panelist), social justice advocates (https://www.nytimes.com/video/opinion/100000007331331/tiktok-sale-trump.html) and general sweet hearts.

My partner and I started Palette on the premise that digital talent require the same infrastructure and care as traditional entertainers, and every day that becomes more and more apparent. It was not easy starting this business; but, we’ve been lucky enough to bring on excellent internal talent and clients who are wildly talented + dedicated to their craft. We’ve learned to trust our instincts and continue to be good to everyone we encounter. We care deeply about our relationships – there’s a person behind every screen, our talent remind us of that!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Chicago-based, so ideal bucket list items (when it’s not freezing cold) would be Old Town art fair or Lincoln Park Farmer’s market; or, a bike ride on the lake shore. Restaurants would be High Five for Ramen (at least half spice), Pequod’s for deep dish, and anyone missing the coasts should visit 88 Market for the best sushi in the city.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shout out to my parents, Judy and Dave, my north stars and center of gravity for majority (if not, all) of my life. And, our closest friends, Bev + Coach Ivan Fears, thank you for being my second parents growing up. Also, thank you to Santigold + Trevor (and John) for allowing me into their world and learning from the best in the business; without you I wouldn’t be where I am today. Thank you to Sarah Stennett & Jess Nolan for taking a chance on me after one nerve wracking interview. Shout out Dara Michelle, Oscar Scivier, Tracie + Madison Beer and the rest of the dream team. Lastly, shout out Coach Fitz & Ernie Adams, go cats!
