We had the good fortune of connecting with Josh Shadid and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Josh, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Aaron and I already both owned our own businesses prior to starting Solo Cinebot. Aaron, ran a boutique camera rental house, and worked as a Cinematographer. I owned a commercial production company in LA. During the first week of the pandemic, all work ceased, and Aaron and I saw a need in the marketplace for a new type of camera system. With our combined knowledge of the industry and camera systems, a warehouse full of camera tech – and new found time off – we put all our workaholic energies into building Solo.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Even posing the question “was it easy” is laughable. Everyone envies the entrepreneurial life until they are posed with the actual task of doing it. Countless hours, sleepless nights, a million phone calls, and no textbook that will ever teach you what to do is par for the course — top all that off with a global pandemic that made every step of the way slower, and riskier and you have the truth about entrepreneur ship in 2020. What has made this work in our story is the teams’ energy and belief in the idea, and Aaron and I as leaders. I think the greatest asset you can acquire when building a new company is human. It’s the people who are convinced to stand beside you that make anything possible.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate all of my successes to my fiancé, Ava, and my team. None of what we’ve done could have been accomplished alone. The tireless efforts of my support staff, and partners to help bring Aaron and I’s vision (across all three of our companies) to life is absolutely a result of their passion and belief in us. Also, to my fiancé, Ava – who’s patience and support has helped keep me moving forward during even the most stressful trying times of embarking on a new entrepreneurial journey. I wouldn’t be the me I am with out her standing beside me.
