We had the good fortune of connecting with Jude Allen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jude, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
Doing photography makes me happy. It pushes me to be more outgoing and social putting me outside and helping me to connect with others in a positive way. It also allows me to be in the moment or zone where I feel more connected and alive.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I tend to be known for my photography style of editing. When I started out I wanted to do something different that pushed the limits. It ended up being a darker or what is called moody style that seems to just resonate with me for various reasons. I’m currently a freelance photographer so things tend to go up and down business wise. I’d say i’m still fairly new to the business side of things as I didn’t always do photography for a living. Staying busy and teaching myself new skills has allowed me to manage the slow times. Also having other hobbies and having a life balance. I overcome challenges by reaching out to others, asking questions, researching topics I do not understand iand never giving up on myself. Being true to what you want and want to create probably is the biggest lesson i’ve learned so far in my journey. The more you focus on what others are doing the less you’re focusing on your own success. Be your own best friend and don’t take it personally when things don’t work out as expected. I’d like the world to see my art as it comes from my heart.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Griffith observatory hiking Portos – cuban bakery Malibu beaches the tire shop taqueria and maybe a helicopter ride over the city
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family and friends and also fans. Words of encouragement have helped me through hard times in my life. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for the love people have shown me.
