We had the good fortune of connecting with Juliet Okonkwo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Juliet, how does your business help the community?
By supporting one’s improvement to well-being and overall quality of life. In a world that can sometimes feel chaotic, coping strategies and low stress environments are very helpful to those that may be dealing with anxiety and other mental health challenges.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Beauty parlors (for nails, hair, makeup etc.) are generally known for self-care services but they can also be a haven for useless trivial conversations, blaring music, television, and magazines that ‘demean women by body-shaming’ or ‘promote endless physical comparisons’ – which cause anxiety, stress and mental strain for many.
I created a wellness studio for those seeking an alternative experience. A Zen oasis for those looking to improve their well-being while treating themselves to our Customized Scalp Facials. At Pure Skin & Scalp Therapy Studio, there are no magazines, no TVs, and no chatter, only music for pure relaxation – a place to truly unplug.
Self-care services are more than aesthetics and I am honored for the opportunity to share my perspective. Time spent in our space serves as a reminder for you (our guest) to hit the pause button on thoughts and conversations that are disempowering, care more about feeling good and find pathways to cultivate peace of mind. It is also what I want the world to know about our brand.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love the westside – easy access to beaches and a diverse selection of restaurants! Playa Vista is my favorite. I live there and I absolutely love it for all that it offers including the convenience of shops and restaurants all within walking distance!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely! Besides my deliciously loving family and my amazing team at PS&S, a big shoutout to Cheryl Hunter and her team for their guidance and mentorship.
