We had the good fortune of connecting with K Lorayne and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi K, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Overtime, I have been able to create a great balance in my life. I live by the concept of working smarter and not harder. I think that overworking yourself not only tires you out but can leave you uninspired and unable to create at your highest capacity.
Im so afraid of the idea floating around that entrepreneurs need to have lots of sleepless nights in order to be successful. I do think there are times when you’ll have to work a little harder to meet a deadline or two, but that shouldn’t be the norm. If you are a full-time entrepreneur, treat it like a full time job. Thats only 40 hours out of your week, and maybe throw in some overtime.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I love simplicity. I think the thing that sets my company apart is the elevated aspect of each piece I create. There’s always an extra design element or just simply the quality of the fabrics used that sets K.Loryane Apparel out from the rest.
I’m the most excited about the growth that is happening within my company. I’m able to reach so many people, in places that I could have never imagined. It has been a journey getting here but I just always kept moving forward. No matter what, as cliche as it may sound, you have to keep going! When looking at the success of others, it would make it hard for me to keep moving, but I started to use that as fuel to continue elevating my brand and myself.
I come from a small town in Michigan called Romulus. I didn’t have a father around and my mother passed away when I was in high school. I say this to say , your current situation is NOT your final destination. Know that God has more in store for you, just DO NOT give up !
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would start with a hike. My favorite is the Etiwanda trail but we could try Runyon for times sake.
Day two – Hollywood boulevard and Rodeo Drive. Dinner at BOA
Day Three – Another morning hike. Shopping at the grove and dinner Hot n Juicy.
Day four- Cruise up the Pacific Coast Highway and stop in malibu at El Matador Beach. DInner at Moonshadows
Day five- Breakfast in WeHo and get ready for farewells
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First I’d like to shoutout God. None of this would have been possible without him.
Secondly, I’d like to give credit to my late Mother who passed away when I was 14. Without the core values she instilled in me, I would not be the woman and/or business woman I am today.
