We had the good fortune of connecting with Kandi Hernandez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kandi, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
My ability to say no lol. Every experience is a learning experience and especially in the beginning I said yes to everything whether it was paid or not. Doing this I’ve built up such a strong work ethic. I love what I do so it’s so easy for my job at times to not feel like a job and more like a fun time.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m most proud of how far I’ve become. Sometimes I look back and remember how hard I struggled in the beginning and I prayed to be where I am now. I really owe God everything he’s blessed me with. It’s definitely not easy but I’ve put lots of no sleep and no days off days. Mostly I’ve learned to push thru it (and caffeine). Mostly what I want people to know about me is I love makeup I love beauty I love being able to create art and making others feel beautiful. I love when my clients are happy. It’s a blessings to bless others.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Definitely love to do touristy and non touristy things So definitely some of the places I’d want to go is Disneyland of course cause how can you be sad when you’re at Disneyland lol. I also love to go to the beach especially in Orange County or Venice less people and cleaner. I would also take them to the swamp meet maybe Santa Fe Springs on a Friday night or Paramount swap meet or even Sante Alley. Also I love the scenic drive on PCH from Long Beach to Torrance so pretty and peaceful and if we have time a drive up to lake Arrowhead I love being in nature.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Yes I have had so many mentors and leaders along my journey but the two that stand out the most for me is Super Duper Maxi & Rokael Lizama. I was barely starting and really wanted to learn how to work in the entertainment field and Maxi from the beginning was such a an amazing mentor. I really learned such good discipline. Although it was hard at times he really taught me so much business wise and dos and don’ts. I’m so grateful to have met him and love his quirkiness. After working with Maxi I worked with Rokael Beauty and from him I really feel in love with his techniques and how detail oriented he is. He is such an incredibly hard working and very humble. He’s really been a blessing I’m so grateful to have learned so much beauty from him.
