We had the good fortune of connecting with Kate Tumanova and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kate, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Thankfully, production has time frames.

I like to buckle up, push hard through prep, be 100% present during a project and deliver on time.

But when I am done- I am done.
I love to take long vacations, I love to take small solo breaks, I love to unplug and spend quality family time. I give my all to the “work me” and then I switch off and give my all to recharging.

Also, I’m not running a country, just a company, so I’m always available for a call, I like to stay relevant and in touch. My brain never stops dreaming, planning, setting goals.

Balance comes from within, so as long as you take care of your schedule, your mental and physical health, neither life or work should suffer.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
You had another question in the mix and I’d like to highlight that. You asked what would be a single most important decisions that led to my happiness, growth, success….and I can not scream it enough so I want answer that:

PRIORITIZING MY OWN MENTAL HEALTH AND PHYSICAL STRENGTH FIRST.

Strong body- strong mind. Challenge both daily. Take care of both, daily!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Pf thats easy! I’m big on restaurants. I even have my own little food related IG where I post pix of the food I make or fav places I go to- @kateiscooking

So I would definitely cook for them first and take them on a Hollywood Lake picnic.

JONES (Hollywood) – for the best crowd, cocktails, music and Italian.

BLAIRS (Silverlake) – for simple romantic modern Italian food, wine and steak.

SLAY (Manhattan Beach) – just the best.

PERLE (Pasadena) – gorgeous French with one of the best food I had in LA.

BIG BAR / ALCOVE (Los Feliz) for the best late lunch with espresso martini.

And I’m big on having cocktails and rooftops, so I would hop everything Hwood has to offer- Godfrey, Kimpton, Granmasters, Thompson, Tommy…

I also have a favorite Mexican place with best steak fajitas but Ill keep that one a secret. Haha if you know, you know…

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to S/O my boy Adam Horner, Adam is a fellow producer, a partner in a big and growing Marketing/Production company, one of my truest and best friends in LA and just a professional who cares. We have been through years of so much in LA and its amazing to see someone stick around and keep going the way Adam does, truly a driven mf 🙂
