We had the good fortune of connecting with Katelyn Maes & Taylor Henderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Katelyn & Taylor, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
In March of 2020 we were sent home from college. With no job prospects and zero clue what our post-grad lives had in store, we decided to take our future into our own hands.

The thought process behind She’s Board started with one major question: what is our community missing? The answer was easy…connection. Our mission was to provide people with a product or service that brought friends and families together during a time when they couldn’t physically be together.

From there, we figured that charcuterie is a typical centerpiece at most gatherings, so we decided to put it in a box!

As our boxes grew in popularity, we came out with themed holiday boxes that were delivered all over Southern California. She’s Board became people’s go-to service for their gift-giving and catering needs.

Today, people are having more in-person events, so we’ve evolved our services to include large charcuterie table spreads and group classes to make your own personal charcuterie board!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
She’s Board is a female-founded charcuterie service in Southern California. We create delicious and stunning charcuterie centerpieces for events of all shapes and sizes. We design our table spreads to look like works of art that are thoughtfully curated and arranged by hand.

We are hands-on from the moment a client sends an inquiry to the moment we put the finishing touches on the spread. Our attention to detail and love for the craft allows us to be the creative, entrepreneurial women we were born to be. A reminder to all, if you know you were meant to do something, chase that passion, and success will always follow.

It is so rewarding to see people’s excitement as they enjoy our charcuterie, and we hope to service as many people in Southern California as possible!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Our perfect weekend consists of sightseeing, good food, and recreational activities. A must-see place is Nelson’s at Terrenea Resort. The views and vibes are spectacular, and if it’s summertime, we are going on a Saturday for their live bands. A hike through Malaga Cove is not only beautiful, but quite hill-y. So to cool off, we’d go to the PV Beach Club for some refreshments and a dip in the pool. One day would be spent in Manhattan Beach, shopping at boutiques and grabbing a to-go box from Sugarfish. We’d have to spend the afternoon on the beach playing Smashball and grabbing bikes in the evening for a sunset strand ride. You also can’t pass up a nighttime movie at Rooftop Cinema Club in El Segundo to chill and unwind.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We want to give a warm shoutout to the Palos Verdes community and anyone who has ever referred, used, or spread the word about She’s Board. The reception and love we have received over the past 3+ years is so appreciated. We love what we do and we thank you all for the support.
