We had the good fortune of connecting with Katerina Curry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Katerina, why did you pursue a creative career?
Sometimes we choose our path, sometimes the path chooses us… or it’s God, the Universe, or forces of nature that gently nudge us in the direction we’re supposed to go. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine myself as a jeweler, designer, and business owner. I chose a traditional path – law. But life often brings surprises. I ended up in this beautiful country with a chance to start from scratch. Even then, I was trying to choose a somewhat traditional path and was in the process of getting my real estate degree when my creative outlet turned into a business. I became a full-time designer, creator, and founder of LeSilveStone, now learning the art of metalsmithing, a craft that must always be honed and perfected. Designing, creating with my hands, and seeing my work bring joy to someone makes me feel fulfilled. It is challenging in many ways, but it feels right.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I create jewelry for both men and women. My jewelry is designed with the customer in mind. I focus on style, value, and affordability while ensuring each piece is practical for everyday wear. Designing a piece and refining it based on customer feedback takes time, often longer than crafting the piece itself, but it’s worth it. I use only top-quality materials, whether for heirloom pieces or affordable everyday jewelry, because I believe jewelry should last for years. I’m proud of my attention to detail and business approach in an era when the origins of what we buy and where it comes from are often unclear. Currently, I am personally making my jewelry in my California home studio. I love the challenge of custom and semi-custom designs, creating something unique each time and something that will be very special to that particular customer. Once I became a full-time creator and business owner, juggling a growing business with life’s demands wasn’t easy – learning new techniques and managing time took a mental toll. But with the help of my family and, unknowingly to them, my customers, I keep going. I’ve learned to stay true to myself while listening to my customers. As demand grows, I’m eager to reach more people with a curated collection, handpicked with my years of crafting, design, and personal customer connection.

LeSilveStone is about quality, style, going with the flow, and being ourselves. Jewelry should be able to enhance our style or accent our mood, and I hope my customers can find that perfect piece in my collection.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My idea of the best time ever is sharing Southern California’s magic – its beautiful weather, unmatched landscapes, and unique blend of ocean, mountains, endless beaches, and small-town charm near big cities like LA. I’d take my friend to stroll the charming streets and beautiful mom-and-pop boutiques of Coronado, savoring fresh clam chowder at Point Loma Seafoods. At some point we would contrast that with eclectic vibe of Venice Beach, enjoy oceanfront dining, and grab Krispy Kreme donuts for dessert. We’d explore Big Bear’s hidden trails and mountain charm, walk among the stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and enjoy an In-N-Out Burger – California’s classic and an absolute must. A PCH road trip to Santa Barbara, Napa Valley and beyond is a must, including a stop to watch wildlife at Point Mugu. As well as spending quality time enjoying a homemade grilled dinner and sipping wine in my home garden. That’s my idea of a good time – nature, charming places, good company, great conversations, and moments that will stay in memory forever.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
LeSilveStone wouldn’t exist without my family, who convinced me to share my creations as a business and remain my biggest cheerleaders to this day. As the sole creator and operator, I rely on their support in countless ways – from modeling my jewelry to handling daily tasks, strategizing, and offering unwavering encouragement. Being in the US, truly a land of opportunities like no other, opened doors and gave me the courage to step into the unknown. My late parents played a crucial role in this journey. Both engineers, they created with their hands and shaped me in ways I only recently realized. I’m amazed to find myself making jewelry, just like my dad, who made stunning pieces as a hobby with true talent and skill. Many of those pieces, made for my mom, inspire my work more than anything. I didn’t set out to follow his path, but somehow, I ended up here, creating, running a business and sharing my style and vision.
