We had the good fortune of connecting with Katrina Belin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Katrina, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
As an entrepreneur and woman of color who serves God, I was inspired by women in and around my community who is and/or has suffered from severe life stressors. When human beings experience trauma or severe life stressors, it is not uncommon for their lives to unravel. One of my greatest passion’s is bringing joy and healing in helping women to find healthy perceptions of themselves, that they may know themselves as peaceful, complete, and whole.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At the age of 3 my mother was murdered leaving me behind in the hands of family who failed to properly care for me! By age 13 i was officially property of the state of michigan. Moving from group home to group home finally ending up in foster care. At age 15. By age 17 i was pregnant and by 18 i was out on my own….

It was evident that according to my circumstances, experience & data statistics state there was a 5-10% chance that i would survive on my own with no parents, no siblings and no loved ones. And honestly, surviving the streets of detroit as a young woman with no navigation was extremely challenging but god!!
As a teenaged single parent with no mother, i was forced to navigate lifes ups & and downs alone so the road to success definitely has not been easy. Lack of resources, lack of support & lack of funding. But i was determined! Determined to be seen determined to be heard and determined to be me! And on this journey, i’ve found the path to happiness, wholeness & success!!! And that is through true healing & self care. Which is what the beauty mall represents.

Pink Diamond is a Health and Beauty Mall dedicated to providing hands on beauty services including but not limited to cosmetology, manicuring, esthetics and massage therapy, as well as retail therapy to Detroiter’s and it’s surrounding cities. In 2017 Pink Diamond Beauty Mall was founded and created to be a rejuvenation station for women. A place where they could relax, regroup and rejuvenate away from the worries of the day to day tasks in the world. When human beings experience trauma or severe life stressors, it is not uncommon for their lives to unravel. Our goal is to provide a world-class Pink Diamond experience, for both our guests and employees; a place where beauty, comfort, knowledge, and personalized attention, combine to create a totally memorable and rejuvenating experience. We believe in the interconnectedness of body, spirit, and earth and we strive to help nurture that connection. Our great passion is bringing joy and healing in helping clients to find healthy perceptions of themselves, that they may know themselves as peaceful, complete, and whole.
