We had the good fortune of connecting with Keith Daniel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Keith, how do you define success?
I thought wanted to build something that had spooky stories embedded in songs with a theatrical edge to match it. but limiting myself to what one man could do live. To make it a more unique and interesting event.
I think it helps the community by bringing people together to dance, sing, clap. to have a release. remind people that they are alive. to have fun. howl at the moon. feel the music in their bones. Exorcise the demons.
I think you have to risk something to get to where you want to go. To me, risk is about trying something new. It plays a big part because I’m always experimenting with ideas, I think might be great.
Community is the most important. I would be no where without friends, family, and fans.
You’ll feel it in your gut. Follow intuition and instincts.
As I get older, I find I need a balance of personal time. to travel and be inspired and wonder. Even if it’s just a walk through the park. Hustle is good. But when I was younger, all I would do is hustle, and I’d get burnt out.
Traveling to new places. I think because I get a little bit of that wonder and excitement I had as a child. Your favorite place to go to was once a place you had never been.
It wasn’t really a choice. It’s more of an obsession or calling. I learned to just go with it and stop fighting it.
If I get close to the visions, I have in my head for this project. that’s a success. and sometimes when I’m working them out in real life, they’re more interesting that would have imagined.
What else should everyone know about your music?
I play in a one-man band. I mix heavy blues with industrial rock and dark folk genres.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting you in Wisconsin and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Point Beach State Forest for Hiking Hero’s Venture Arcade for games
Lyric Room- for live music
Rock N Roll Land- for record shopping
The Shrunken Head at the Mad Hatter for trivia and drinks
Amphora wine bar for food and drinks
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My wife, Nicole for the love and encouragement. My friend Tom Jordan for the mentorship.
