We had the good fortune of connecting with Kevin Payne and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kevin, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
My determination, renaming humble, being quick to listen to employees and staff and not doing everything on my own.
What should our readers know about your business?
Los Angeles Elite was started in 2013. Our program is transparent with parents and families. We hold our players accountable and most importantly we service our communities. I’m most proud of impacting the kids in our program and helping to mold them into great young men. We’ve had a little bit of luck yet tons of mistakes. It was not easy due to the unknowns and factors such as COVID-19 and the affect it had on our program. I’ve learned that you can not trust everyone in this business. Everyone in this industry is not in it for the kids. Unfortunately they are in it for the wrong reasons and I make sure that I stick to my core values of honesty, loyalty and integrity. LA Elite has grown and as the program continues to grow, we will continue to have an impact on each kid that joins our program. We strive to help kids achieve their dreams of playing college basketball and add to the 40+ that play or have played at the next level. We will always stay true to the mission and that is #PlayersFirst. Los Angeles Elite will always provide a home for our players and families and continue to help shape these young men to become leaders of the future
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Pacos Tacos (best margaritas in the city) and go shopping at Century City mall
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Russell Payne, my business partner. Together we have built a brand that impacts lives through basketball. It is a passion that we both share. It has worked very well over the last 8 years.
