We had the good fortune of connecting with Kiaundra Jackson, LMFT and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kiaundra, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Taking risks can be very scary to most people. However, taking a calculated risk can be one of the best decisions if you want to live a fulfilling life. Doing the same things in your life, career and family day after day is called being in a comfort zone. Comfort zones are designed to be safe, making one not want to leave them ever. But some of the greatest people in our history has taken chances and risks that yielded them a great return.
I am the queen of calculated risks. I often look at where I am and where I desire to be. I make hard choices that push me to higher heights in my personal and professional life. On the outside it may look easy, but this is a practice that I have implemented since I took one of the biggest risks of my life back in 2017 and quit my full-time job to start my own business. The world and life has looked so different for me since that time and I have achieved things that I never thought was possible. I leaped and the parachute opened in the right place, at the right time. Now, that business that I was scared to start back in 2017 is global and literally impacting people all over the world.
What should our readers know about your business?
I do not just own a business but I am a business! For a long time, it was hard for me to understand that I AM A BRAND. Therapy, my books, my ability to command a room, my TV appearances are just a byproduct of all the hard work and commitment I put in behind the scenes.
I am proud of so many things. However, what I am most proud of is my ability to impact lives on a larger scale. Beyonce and the NAACP recognized my business out of 17,000 other small black businesses. I am still in awe of that!
I want the world to know that this is just the beginning of my story and there is so much more to me. So sit back, buckle your seatbelt and join me for the ride!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Some of the best places to check out in California: the beach, Hollywood, Downtown Los Angeles, and DisneyLand.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to thank my good friend, Brian J. Olds. He is the founder of Black Speakers Network and has played a key role in being a part of my support system. Not only is he smart, innovative and knowledgeable, but he is also caring, realistic and is always pushing me to greatness. He is one of the few people that knows me so well (the good, the bad and in between) and still continues to be on the crazy journey with me. I would like to shout him out for being one of a kind. Everyone needs a friend like Brian!
