We had the good fortune of connecting with Kim Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kim, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Bringing neighbors together one neighborhood at a time. Building memories for the young kids throughout the city and surrounding communities. Giving them joy that comes with every holiday season.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Christmas on Columbia, a Neighborhood Watch group 501C was developed in 2019.
We worked through the pandemic to give families joy during the Christmas season. We continue this tradition year after year. Given to children who are in need and bring in neighbors together one neighborhood at a time.. our biggest struggle has been funding in the beginning. We as a neighborhood was funding this project from our personal pockets. Now that we have formed a non-profit, we seek funding from others. It has not been a lot, but we continue to hold our heads up high and work towards our goal.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
They would definitely have to see the event that we put on from there. I will take them out to Palm Springs and then take them down to the beach to enjoy the views of the beautiful California…. There are so many wonderful things in California to see, do and enjoy 1 week would not give them enough time to see it all.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
.I give thanks to my parents. I also give thanks to my coaches. Albert and Veronica Perez, also along with the other team members who have joined us on this great venture.
