Meet Kimberly Tapplar | Hair stylist and Extreme Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimberly Tapplar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kimberly, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Whew! I was in a crazy time! My mother passed away a few years prior and I just couldn’t shake grief! I was thinking of ways I can make my late mother’s life still relevant to the world! My mother was the life and light to everyone around her. She made us laugh so hard at times that we would cry and almost pee our pants lol! My thought process was how do I get that type of energy in as many homes as possible? I love candles and the light it gives off is so uplifting just like my mother. So I created a candle company named it after her.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The goal is to BRING LIGHT TO LIFE with the BEST CANDLES IN THE WORLD, in as many homes as possible!

I can say being a business owner is not easy! Even in my hair business, for the last 18 years as a hairstylist I had to trust the process and put my sole trust in God!! I’ve learned that whether I am doing hair or selling candles that consistency equals success! Over the years that has been my biggest struggle, being consistent. Being consistent on social media has been challenging but also rewarding, when I’m doing the things needed.

I’m still no where near where I want to go in life, but being present in the moment has taught me to remain humble and grateful for all that I have and what I have been able to provide for my family! I rather take a huge risk than leave this world without trying to accomplish every dream I have. Which lead me to quit my 9-5 corporate job as a laboratory manager. I knew I wasn’t going to be able to give my family the life they deserve by working a job with a 401k for the next 40years.

I want the world to know we are here to Bring you light and uplift your thoughts through our candles and products!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Best friend is in town!!!! I love some breakfast so I’m probably going to cook for her the first day but the next few days we are going to go to honey uninhibited, 6 in the morning, and of course the Coffee Emporium for some of the best coffee and drinks ever!

Definitely going to do a wine tasting at Coopers Hawk followed by a nice walk along the Ohio river to catch up on old times with my girl!

Depending on what’s going on in the city we just might hit the Funny Bone for some laughs like old times. And because my girl loves her some seafood we are definitely going to sit in at Cincy Crab before she leaves. She loves to be interactive so virtual reality or a bomb workout boot camp would be a must.

I’m usually always working so I don’t get out much but I would definitely show her a great time!

My husband, my husband, my husband! Where do I even begin??? He has been the rock for Ti Marie Candle Company! He literally tells every person he pass by that we have the BEST CANDLES IN THE WORLD!! From late nights, my crazy ideas, and my little attitude he just take it and encourages me daily! Sometimes I get on his nerve but he never stops letting the world know who his wife is and what I do. I have gained so many clients and customers all because of him!!!
