We had the good fortune of connecting with Klara Gomes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Klara, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
Success to me is having a happy and fulfilled life by your own standards. You know those goals you set for yourself and no matter how small it is, or even if it’s a to do list you get it done? That’s success for me. that little butterfly in your stomach when you feel proud of yourself, no matter how other people try to minimize your goals or achievements.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Being an actor during these times is definitely a challenge, but hey, we’re not alone! I know countless of people who got their “regular” majors and still can’t find a job in their area. Acting to me is the most exciting thing because of the creative room you have when you get to play and dive into so many stories, perspectives, and different ways of thinking. The key to overcome your challenges as an actor is to always remember who you are and why you chose this path. Persistence and resilience are the key, always be working on yourself and bettering your craft. Social Media has definitely been more challenging to me than acting but at the end of the day I am just in love with the process of working with brands I believe in and sharing that with those that believe in me. It is just the beginning, not an easy one but it is just starting.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have a few besties but if the ones that never been to LA before were to come I would definitely take them to explore Hollywood blvd- even if they never wanted to go there again! Take them on a bar crawl around Santa Monica blvd, for a hike at the hills (even though my bestie and I aren’t very athletic) it is so worth it for the views! Would definitely take them to Santa Monica beach, but before we’re stopping at In-n-out and just spend the rest of the days enjoying ourselves and being spontaneous. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My parents are definitely my cheer team, thanks to them I learned to be independent and to create my own success. My father was the first person in our family to get a college education trough his own efforts so growing up watching him succeed without anyone’s help, while raising me alongside my mother made want nothing less. Also, shout out to The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, reading that book for the first time changed my whole world perspective, always remember “When you want something all the universe conspires in helping you achieve it.”
