We had the good fortune of connecting with Kohle Heimlich and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kohle, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk and the ability to deal with risk are major factors in the sucess of any entrepreneur. Without Risk you have no sucess. You must risk your current comfort today to eventually have an elevated level of comfort in the future. Any true entrepreneur has had to deal with Risk head on. Its one of the key factors that must be considered when starting a business and then considered again and again every time you want to grow your business. What are you willing to loose, to trade in order to be more successful? Who are you willing to become to get to your goals? What are you willing to go through and persevere through to get to your goals? For most business owners risk is often tied directly to Finances and in short its often looked at as gambling but an educated, calculated gamble where your not putting your bet on the black jack table, Roulette wheel or a horse but instead your putting your money on yourself for the win. This means that Risk can be a scary thing even for a seasoned business owner. What I have learned is to use the fear that comes with Risk to drive yourself and your business over your next mile stone. Want to start a business? Want to grow your business? It can be scary stuff (Risk) especially if your not coming from a place of privilege to begin with. You may have to Risk everything you have or everything you have worked for just to get to the next goal. Are you willing to Risk everything to get to where you want to be? As a business owner you often times have to put what you have on the line in order to keep moving forward. This means the very real possibility of failure. The possibility of failure creates fear. Use this fear, dont shy away from it. Use this fear as your fuel to drive you, to push you, to wake you up early, to keep you up late, to reply to that last customers email even know your dog tired. Use the fear as your fuel because after all fear is one of the best motivators there is. Embrace the fear that comes with risk. For it is this fear of failure, of mediocrity that will drive you when you have nothing left. A simple way to look at your business is this: You are either moving forward or your moving backwards, there is no such thing as staying stagnant in business. Grow or begin to die, those are you choices. Risking what you have to get more in the future can be scary for anyone but learn to use that fear that comes with risk to drive you, to push you and you will eventually make it over the mountain you see to the next mountain that you need to conquer. I say next mountain because for any true entrepreneur there is no finish line, just more to keep conquering. Remember Success is not a Destination its a journey. Learn to enjoy the Journey and use the fuels you encounter along the way (fear, etc…) to power you to the sucess of your dreams.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We have two main factors that set us apart form our competition. The first is our extremely high level of customer service and support that we offer our customers (and potential customers). We treat everyone how we would want one of our beloved family members to be treated in the same situation. The second factor is the exceptionally high level of quality in our work. The dedication we have to our exceptional level of quality is what sets up apart from our competition. As a German I firmly believe it is either right or it is wrong, there is no good enough. We simply do it better and more consistently than any and all of our competition. The automotive machining and automotive racing world in general is a very competitive world where you need to constantly push yourself to become better in order to stay on the top. We are constantly striving to improve upon yesterday. An example of this is, two weeks ago one of our C6Z06 Corvette Customers up in Canada set the World Record for the fastest naturally aspirated C6z06 in world with an amazing 8.993 second run at 151.84 mph in the quarter mile. This 8.993 second time is unheard of and no one any where in the world is anywhere near matching it never mind breaking it. Now with that said we are already hard at work with this customer to develop a better flowing cylinder head port that will get him going even faster than ever before so that he can one again and break his own world record. We do not rest on our successes of yesterday, instead we use them as challenges to keep improving our craft. How good can you be? You will never now till you put it all on the line to find out.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Thankfully being in Los Angeles you have alot of options for extra curricular actives at your fingertips. I’m a big water man. I love the water. If im not in my shop you can find me out on my boat or doing some free diving out by Catalina Island. If you live in L.A. or are visiting L.A. and have never been to Catalina Island for a chill get away I highly recommend going. You never know, you may fall in love with it as much as I did.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My team! Here at AHP everything we do is teamwork. We are blessed to have some of the best guys in the business working at AHP. We have Staff that spent years with Formula 1 and Indy car teams before coming over to AHP. A company is like a ship, it takes a good crew with set roles to get to the destination.
