Meet Konetix | Music Producer | DJ | Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Konetix and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Konetix, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
One of the most important decisions I made was sending in a mix to Skibadee when he asked for submissions on his Breakfast At Skibadee’s show. At the time, I was just starting out in the music industry, unsure of myself, and didn’t feel like I was going to be noticed anytime soon. My friend pushed me to go for it and send a mix in to him. I thought, “What’s the worst that could happen?”
When Skibadee came back saying he liked the mix, and wanted to record a full vocal mix with me, it was a total game-changer. He didn’t have to do it—there was no benefit to him—but he did it for the love of the music, to give someone like me a chance.
That single act of kindness and belief in me set the stage for everything that followed. Skibadee didn’t just give me exposure, he opened doors and introduced me to some incredible people & artists who are now close friends and collaborators. His selflessness and generosity, as well as his passion for lifting up others, is something I’ll never forget.
Looking back, I realise how important my decision was to bite the bullet and put my mix out there for him to hear — not just in terms of the career opportunities it gave me, but in the sense of confidence it instilled. It was a reminder that you don’t need to wait for permission, and that being authentic and putting your work out there can make all the difference.
Without that moment, I might not be where I am today, and I’ll always be grateful for it.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Drum and bass has always been about energy, emotion, and pushing boundaries, and that’s exactly what I aim to do with my music. My sound blends the lively, high-energy feel of jump-up with the depth and emotions of liquid drum and bass, creating something that connects with people in different ways—whether they want to rave or just vibe.
What sets me apart is my desire to break genre boundaries. I’m constantly working with artists from different scenes, from UK drill to mainstream pop, to bring fresh elements into drum and bass. I don’t believe in being boxed into one sound—music should evolve, and I want to be at the forefront of that evolution.
One of the things I’m most proud of is my upcoming project, which is built around this exact idea—showing the versatility of drum and bass and making it more accessible to wider audiences. It’s a project that’s been years in the making now, and I can’t wait to share it with the world.
But getting here wasn’t easy. Breaking into the industry is tough, and like any creative path, it comes with setbacks. There were times I felt overlooked, times when self-doubt crept in, and moments where I had to question whether the sacrifices were worth it. But I stayed consistent, and more importantly, I stayed genuine—I put out the music I believed in, connected with people who shared my vision, and trusted the process.
Lessons Learned:
No one is going to hand you opportunities—you have to create them. Early on, I realised that waiting for the “right time” or the “right person” to notice me wasn’t the way forward. I had to put myself out there, take risks, and show people what I could do.
Collaboration is everything. Some of my biggest breakthroughs came from working with others and being open to different ideas.
The journey isn’t linear. There’s no straight path to success in music—you’ll have high points and low points, but as long as you keep moving forward, you’re making progress.
What I Want the World to Know
I’m here to push drum and bass forward while keeping its roots strong. My music isn’t just about the dance floor—it’s about storytelling, about emotion, and about proving that drum and bass can be just as diverse and impactful as any other genre. Whether you’ve been in the scene for years or you’re just discovering it, my goal is to make music that resonates with you.
Most of all, I want up-and-coming artists to know that you don’t have to fit into a mould to succeed. Be bold, be consistent, and most importantly, be yourself.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best mate was visiting London, I’d want them to experience the real side of the city—not just the tourist spots, but the places that truly make it special. London has it all—top-tier food, proper nightlife, and unique hidden gems that show why this city is one of the best in the world.
Food & Drink – Where to Eat & Chill
London’s food scene is next-level, and there are must-visit spots that never disappoint.
Breakfast & Lunch: The Haberdashery (Crouch End)—great for a relaxed morning with amazing food.
Dinner Spots:
Cottons for some proper jerk chicken
Sophie’s Steakhouse for a serious steak
Cafe Sol (Clapham High St) for a solid meal before a night out
Namaste Lounge (Northwood) if you’re craving a proper quality curry
Street Food & Markets:
Borough Market is a must for top-tier street food, from fresh seafood to legendary cheese toasties.
Kebab Kid (New Kings Rd)—best kebabs in London, no debate.
Exploring the City – Must-See Spots
Camden Market – Whether it’s for food, record digging, or just taking in the madness, Camden has always had a proper vibe.
South Bank – One of my favourite walks in London. If the weather’s good, nothing beats strolling by the Thames, catching street performers, and soaking up the energy of the city.
Music & Nightlife – The Full UK Experience
If you’re coming to London, you have to experience the music scene properly, and for me, that means drum and bass. Every event has its own style and crowd, but one thing unites them all—everyone’s there for the love of the music.
For the full rave experience, I’d have to take them to all the events:
DNB Allstars, Breakin Science, V Recordings, Worried About Henry, Critical Music, Hospital Records, Jungle Cakes, Born On Road
London has some serious venues, and my favourite used to be Printworks, but since that’s gone, Here at Outernet is probably one of the best new spaces in the city right now.
Beyond the Music – Unique Experiences in London
London isn’t just about the clubs—it’s got so many underrated spots that people don’t always think about.
For a different vibe: King’s Cross is actually a great place to explore.
A free-for-all salsa class, where you’ll see people dancing the night away every week.
Catching a film at Everyman Cinema on the canal—way better than your standard cinema trip.
Bars like Spiritland—a hidden gem for real music lovers.
For something creative: Pirate Studios is a must, gotta get a good sweaty mix in.
And if they’re here at the right time? Boomtown Festival (a little outside of London) is the ultimate experience—nothing compares to it.
Why London?
The best thing about London is the variety. You can go from eating the best jerk chicken in town to a sweaty rave, then to a salsa class, and end the night in a jazz bar—all in one day. It’s got a scene for everyone, and no matter what you’re into, you’ll find your crowd.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people who have played a role in my journey so far, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without their support.
First and foremost, my mum has been my biggest supporter from day one. She’s never let me down and has always been in my corner, pushing me to keep going and believing in me even when I doubted myself.
My good friend DJ Uno has been by my side since the very start of my music career, watching me grow every step of the way. Having someone like that, who genuinely wants to see you succeed and keeps you grounded, is something I’ll always appreciate.
A massive shoutout also goes to DJ Phantasy—he was the first person to sign my tunes, and we’ve worked closely together ever since. Not only has he played a huge role in my career, but he’s always had my best interests at heart, which is rare to find in this industry.
I also want to give a special mention to DJ Rap—she’s an incredible artist and someone I’ve been working closely with recently. She’s the one who linked me up with this amazing opportunity to talk to Shoutout LA, so big love to her for that!
Beyond that, I’ve been lucky to have an incredible community of family, friends, and fellow artists who have been on this journey with me. Seeing familiar faces at shows and knowing I’ve got a solid support system always reminds me why I love what I do.
When it comes to a defining moment of support, of course, the Skibadee moment was huge for me, but honestly, it’s the constant love and encouragement from the people closest to me that has made the biggest difference. The industry can be tough at times, and having that solid foundation of people who genuinely care is what keeps me going.
