We had the good fortune of connecting with Krishna Dinata and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Krishna, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success is the people who support me which are my family, friends, and teachers who have pushed me beyond my abilities, and also the dream to be successful in the music industry.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m currently in my senior year of college where I’ll be making my final project and preparing for work. As a musician, I also have to grow my social media platforms and keep making music. It is definitely not easy because I have a limited amount of time to balance schoolwork, keep making music, and prepare myself after graduation. As an international student, I have to get a job to maintain my visa status after graduation if I want to stay in the States. I know that there are fewer job listings in the music (or music technology) industry and it is very competitive. That is why I have to keep working hard and believe in myself to have a musical life.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Boston is one of the best places to stroll. It is a small and beautiful city and easy to commute by bus and subway. I would start exploring the city by strolling around Newbury Street which has many options for shopping and good food. At the end of the street, there will be Boston Public Garden followed by Boston Common. After walking on Boylston Street, I would take them to Chinatown where you will find various kinds of Asian cuisine. I recommend trying barbeque pork at Hong Kong Eatery, dim sum at Great Taste Restaurant, and boba at Royal Tea. I also recommend trying Canoli at Mike’s Pastry or Modern Pastry at North End. Other places that you should check out are Quincy Market, JFK Presidential Library, Allston, and Harvard.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I also want to thank all my teachers who have helped me learn and develop my skills as a musician. I’d like to thank my friends for being on my side to explore music and make beautiful memories. I want to thank my family who has always encouraged me to pursue my dreams. I know that it is hard for some parents to let their children study music for college but they believed in my work and ambition to be successful in the music industry. This shoutout is dedicated to my sister who has always been there for me in my lowest times and pushed me to be true to myself.
