We had the good fortune of connecting with Lady Bain and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lady, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I believe the most important factor behind the success of my brand is my faith in God and the people that were put in my life to help bring the vision to pass.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a singer/songwriter who’s dedicated to keeping the true art of musical expression alive. I am here to let people know that real R&B and soul music is here to stay. I write and not only from a place of experience but emotion that I want people to feel when they experience my music. My story is unique because I had given up on love and music because of the perils of life and the daunting task of being a Detroit police officer. Now, I can express it through music, and people can relate and escape for a moment and get in touch with their experiences in life in a passionate yet positive way.
After my high school friend took on the task of developing me from a business standpoint and encouraged me to believe again, the rest was blessed by design. I’m super excited to see what else the journey has to offer. I have been blessed with several awards, accolades and widely accepted in other countries. I have one of the industry’s finest producers, and I must say he never lets me slack in quality. Bass Heavy has worked with so many A-list artists, and his brand means everything to him, so I knew I had to bring my best to the table.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to stay thankful and humble because success is never acquired alone. I pray to make an indelible mark in the music industry that will leave a legacy for musicians coming behind me.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When my friends visit the city of Detroit, there are so many beautiful landmarks of interest. I would start with the Fox theatre to take in a show after dinner on the River Walk downtown. Campus Martius Park for ice skating would be a definite delight if the season is right; if not, we would take advantage of the live shows outside and great food. Woodward Ave. is packed with so many sights to take in; The Dream Cruise, Tiger’s games at Comerica Park, and if lucky, we can catch a major concert at the brand new Little Caesars arena. We would most certainly have a plethora of things to do! Before the week is over we’ll chill out at Nu’Vannah Wellness Spa.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to a long-time friend, affectionately known as CeCe Heath. She is now the CEO of Royal Court Records and the founder of several organizations that serve the country and her community. CeCe knew that singing was a lifelong passion of mine that was pushed to the side because life happened. After a near-fatal accident took my profession as a police officer, she put a lot on the line to revive my passion as a musician, and as a result, we’ve hit the ground running. After winning several awards and being featured in several magazine publications, I knew dreams do come true. Since working with CeCe, I’ve inked a deal with Bravo T.V., Sony The Orchard in association with the legendary Force M.D’s. CeCe has put together a phenomenal team that makes sure everything is done in the spirit of excellence to ensure my brand stands out and is noted as the best.
