We had the good fortune of connecting with Larada Lamsam and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Larada, what makes you happy? Why?
Human kindness makes me happy because it reminds me what a beautiful place the world is when we don’t hurry to judge others and try to connect to each other instead. It is in this state that we can truly band together to bring real positive change, in saving ourselves and the planet.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am very blessed to do what I love, all in the while of knowing that my work also helps others and the planet. We are a purpose-driven jewelry line. The jewelry pieces are inspired by the awe-inspiring beauty of Mother Nature, as well as legends and lore of the past. The jewelry pieces are ethically handmade and environmentally conscious. I am proud to say that sustainability is the very core of Washed Ashore. We draw inspiration from Mother Nature, so I think it’s very important for us to also keep her in mind and take care of her. What sets us apart from others is definitely our sustainability initiatives. We manufacture ethically from 100% recycled metals, post-consumer upcycled stones, and recycled packaging. Our shipping emissions are also offset. Instead of the traditional linear business, we are a circular business, meaning we keep reusing our resources as much as their life cycle will allow. By reusing, recycling, and regenerating without using new raw materials, we are able to produce less waste and eliminate any means of having to obtain new raw materials, in this case being mining. We also invested in our production partners and making it possible for them to finance renewable energy and water recycling systems. Our motto when it comes to our production is “transparency, traceability, and accountability”. I am proud to say that we check all these boxes and will continue to keep raising the bar. We are conscious about our footprints on the planet and our interactions with others, all the small details that get often overlooked in this fast pace world we live in. Through many trials and tribulations, I am grateful for all the experiences that brought me to where I am today. I would not be here without the love and support from my loved ones, positive manifestations, and the unwavering faith in the universe. Life will always pose some challenges, my way of overcoming them is to stay calm and positive, and work through the issues. I believe that kindness and compassion always lead the way. I have learned along the way that we are all human, perfection is an illusion, and a simple act of kindness will take you a long way. Once we can grasp this truth, we can better work together and even save the planet! What I would like the world to know about me and my brand is that it is possible to run and operate a mindful business, and that change is possible and we are all capable of creating a ripple effect of positive changes we would like to see in the world.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Here are my personal gems in LA:

Eat/drink
– Pace in Laurel Canyon. I love this classic Laurel Canyon spot.
– Night + Market on Sunset. I’m Thai, and this Thai street food place transports you to the streets of Thailand!
– Blue Plate Oyterette in Santa Monica. Amazing seafood with ocean view.

Visit:
– Los Angeles Natural History Museum, their gems and minerals hall is my heaven.
– LACMA, great art and jazz in the summertime.
– The Book Soup on Sunset. Great bookstore, I could stay there and browse for hours.

Hang out:
– Leo Carrillo Beach, Malibu. Scenic drive and it’s dog-friendly!
– Abalone State Park, Palos Verdes. Great hike with a beautiful view.
– Melrose Trading Post in Fairfax. I love this flea market for its laid-back vibe and it’s pet-friendly. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would not be here without the love and support from my family, friends, and, my amazing girls at Washed Ashore. They all constantly remind me to stay focused and be true to who I am. I am forever grateful.

Some 13 years ago, my dad gave me the book “The Secret” by Rhonda Bynes. My life changed forever. That book taught me about positive manifestation, and that we can all create our own reality. I definitely still read it often, just to remind myself to stay positive and keep envisioning!
