We had the good fortune of connecting with Laura Lawrie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Laura, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Being aware and present through Meditation, Breathwork, Movement, and Journaling in the morning. Morning time is the time where your brain process the most amount of information and that is what’s going to set the tone for your day. If you start your day scrolling Instagram that might subconsciously trigger negative feelings such as comparison, and the result of that is lack of energy and motivation throughout your day.

When you start you day connecting with yourself, feelings and emotions, you’re present and aware. That gives you a chance to check in and see if you’re caring any negative or positive emotion, filtering what you want to carry with you throughout your day. Awareness gives you the chance to take your power back, and not be a slave of your emotions.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m Laura Lawrie have the honor to serve other people in their journey through Holistic Coaching. After going through severe anxiety and food disorder, I found myself in an endless pit with no way out. That’s when I found Meditation, Yoga, and Breathwork. These heavenly tools brought me out of that pit I was in and gave me a chance to restart better than ever.

I was then motivated, full of purpose and present. Life wasn’t just something to be bared but a gift. Today my mission is to guide others who are looking for a reset button by introducing the same tools that once gave me my power back and a chance for a fresh start.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
California is one of the most incredible places ever. It has everything from desert to snow mountains. It’s a week long trip and I’m very excited to share what I’ve planned for ya!

We’re going o visit one of my favorite places here in LA, such as El Matador Beach in Malibu, Walk on the Venice Boardwalk, and bike to Santa Monica Pier. Then we’ll visit the best restaurants including Elephante, Fia, Nobu, Bacari and Gjelina. Oh, we can’t forget about taking a little stroll on Abbot Kinney at night and stop by Salt and Straw for desert!

If you’re up for some Beach day we can drive to Laguna Beach and just chill by the beach!

To finalize it, we’re going to take a 2 hour car ride to Big Bear Lake and have some fun on the snow!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Yoga Community. I found yoga – or it found me – in a very delicate time of my life where I was drowning in my own body, eating whatever was in front of me to cope with my anxiety. It brought me back to self, and it showed me who I really was. The practice and the community showed me I was loved, cared for and full of purpose. It peeled all the layers that I was trying to cope with food and gave the the tools to heal and start over.
We humans are social creatures and we thrive when in community. It is a beautiful thing to be share life and to be supported by a group of people that believe in you and make you feel loved. I am forever thankful for it.
