We had the good fortune of connecting with Lenka Padysakova and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lenka, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
To be in the creative industry, one never stops. The inspiration, ideas, thinking process, is with you 24hours 7 days a week.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Since I was very little, art and creativity was part of me and never let go. I was and am a dreamer. I was always buried in books or watched old black and white movies, played piano and had never ending conversations with my piano teacher about classical composers and their lives. All these elements make me think in a different way when it comes to designing. I adore the elegance of the past, the glamour, the gentlemen like behavior and it does reflect in my work. I bring the past and mix it with contemporary elements, color combinations and fabrics. My designs where always standing out from the crowd and that is not always easy to accept. But my clients are the ones, who would like to stand out in their own way, who are not scared to embrace the femininity and walk out proudly. I create beauty and I want my clients to feel comfortable, happy and proud of themselves. What I have learned along the way is how important is to know what you want. To have a clear vision and stand behind it. Do not let anyone to strip off your individuality. Stay true to yourself.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting, or anyone really, the first thing that I would show them in LA is actually my own area which I love and that is Marina del Rey. Walk around the harbor, beach and have a sunset dinner at local places like SALT or BRIZO. Paddle boarding during the day is a must! One of my the most favorite restaurants in my area is Italian VIA VENETO. Such a glamorous and cosy place. LONG BEACH ANTIQUE MARKET is my place to go to when it comes to finding vintage accessories. I adore WATERSIDE MARINA DEL REY, with the sound Frank Sinatra that always plays outside and some yummies from KREATION ORGANIC. Beachside bike ride to Santa Monica with a stop at GJUSTA for brunch. For sushi lovers IRORI SUSHI is the place not to be missed. I very much enjoy walks on Abbot Kinney Blvd where you can get inspired by various cute designer shops. The best grocery store where you can find so many amazing vegan, gluten free, organic, very special delicious food, cosmetic or even incense sticks is RAINBOW ACRES.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First of all I have to say thank you to my mom who however strict she was with me when I was a teenager, she always gave me space and support in my studies and piano classes. She always let me to choose the path I wanted. If it was a school I wanted to study or other country to live in. Book ANNE OF GREEN GABLES that I first read as a teenager is still my favorite book. Anne inspires me to keep dreaming.
