We had the good fortune of connecting with Leslie McClure and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Leslie, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Wow! That’s a hard question, but if I had to put into words what makes someone successful, I suppose I would say, having the respect of clients and peers. I am always honest and straightforward with everyone with whom I work. I say what I mean and I do what I say. I treat others as I wish to be treated. My business is personal and my clients are like family. I always rely on what I told my son when he was little: Your smile is your biggest asset. If you’re smiling, you’re most likely happy and others will be too. You can’t be mad or mean when you smile. People are attracted to, and want to around, happy and positive people. I’m not saying to be phony, just genuine. Caring and kindness leads to friendship and good business. You only get one chance to make a first impression. Make it count. Meeting people and networking is a valuable tool in business. It’s the center core of my company. You just never know when you can help someone or they can help you. Business is friendship. Success comes in many forms. You just never know. So, I guess I would say, being positive, friendly, caring and reliable would be how my company and my brand has been built.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
411 Video Information is a boutique publicity, marketing, branding and consulting firm that specializes in health, fitness, nutrition, beauty, lifestyle and more. We provide niche marketing and personal attention for our clients big and small. We work with our clients individually to reach and maintain their goals. We collaborate with others to broaden our services as to deliver exactly what the client needs. “411” means information, and information is what we have, and, what we provide. In addition to broad based public relations services, product review, social media, websites, and extensive publicity preparation and media outreach, we work to book our clients for speaking engagements and gain sponsorships. Our clients have had their stories told on the national media stage; TV, radio, and print. We’ve helped authors get their books published; produced and launched videos and DVDs on numerous platforms; and introduced clients to connections they may not have been able to reach otherwise. We are always on hand for our clients, and our contacts. We are always ready to help.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love dining in great restaurants, and I love to shop and to attend charity events and social gatherings. Many of these events have been curtailed now due to the covid-19 restrictions. So, if I were lucky enough to have a bestie come to visit now, I’d say, let’s take a drive up the coast. First stop would be Nobu Malibu, one of my all time favorite restaurants for food and ambience. Continuing on, Santa Barbara’s Bacara Resort is a must. We’d stop there for a day or two of pampering, dining, and room service. Maybe even a little shopping. Hopefully, we’d find some nice quaint restaurants I’ve not yet discovered that are open on the drive north where we would dine outside and enjoy the beautiful weather. Perhaps, a glass of champagne in Cambria overlooking the water and enjoying some good old fashioned conversation. The Inn at Spanish Bay in Pebble Beach would be the next overnight stop with a suite overlooking the water and golf course. Exploring the streets and sights of Carmel with some shopping at my favorite boutique, Girl Boy Girl. A night at The Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco and a trip to the UGG store for a pair of custom UGGs. Then, onto The Four Seasons Silverado in Napa to explore the wineries, relax, recharge and rejuvenate.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d probably say that my shout out would go to my family; my husband who has always encouraged me to do what makes me happy, helped to finance my business early on, established my computer database, and traveled with me in the early years; my son, Jaason, who travels with me now and has learned the marketing side of the business; my son, Brandon, who as a millennial, is my go to for social media; and, my son, Damon, who has helped me with the early mechanics of the business. I do want to give special props to my mom, Florence Troy, who is probably most responsible for my launching this business. She was a great writer and passed that along to me. She was the flourish behind many of my press releases, the descriptions on video packaging, the author of my company brochure, and, the poet who composed and wrote the original poems on all of my cherished Christmas cards. Mom had a way with words, So that is why I dedicate this shout out to her and her first poetry book, “Birds Fly, Why Can’t I?”
