Meet Lili Pettit | Founder, Clutter Healing®, Inc.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lili Pettit and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lili, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
The most important lesson my career has taught me is to take breaks…I mean a lot of breaks. Society has conditioned us to work in a conventional way and I have learned to unwind this concept through more cyclical living. When I take a walk around the block, call a friend or sink into a bath to break up the working parts of my day, I find that more work gets accomplished. I personally have fallen into the bad habit of forcing or pushing to get things done instead of allowing myself to be pulled toward my goals. This leads to burn out and boy have I been there! Using the cycles of the moon, listening to my body’s energy levels and taking breaks supports the kind of lifestyle I think we all crave but don’t fight hard enough to have. Over the past 15 years of being an entrepreneur, the most magic has come during the quiet, the down time, the place where there is space to actually “hear” what my business needs.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My name is Lili Pettit and I am the founder of Clutter Healing®,Inc. a holistic home organizing service. I believe that our homes are living breathing entities that are intricately woven together + are only as strong as their weakest link. You can put a bandaid solution on say a pantry or a garage but really your home flows better when all spaces are streamlined and organized.
Our intention as professional organizers is to provide a fun, safe and non-judgemental space for our clients to clear physical and emotional clutter. A huge part of what we support clients in achieving is matching the inside of their cabinets, drawers and closets to the outside of their space. When we feel good inside, the outside will match that frequency and vice versa.
It was not an easy journey to get to where I am today. When I first started my company I was valeting cars at night, working part-time in a real estate office and organizing for people at a very reduced rate to get the before and after photos. At one point I sold a diamond ring to make rent. Although it was challenging, I had a hunch that home organizing would be more mainstream one day and look at the industry now!
What I am most proud of today is how much we help our clients and the earth. We work closely with local agencies and specialty recycling platforms to make sure that we keep as much as possible out of the landfill. Most clients say after just one session with us that they can finally take a deep breath again. When one person starts their healing journey they create a pathway for others to heal. In essence, Clutter Healing® influences the way that people connect with themselves, the things they buy and the items they ultimately release.
My favorite hashtag is #itsallconnected because we truly are all connected to the energy of everything but especially to the energy of our belongings.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Funny I’ve lived in Los Angeles for almost 20 years now and have done all the touristy things during a different season of my life. Now that I’m a mama, I appreciate the slower pace of life that is available outside of LA. I love driving up to Ojai or Santa Barbara for the day and looking at old houses, farms and visiting a restaurant with locally grown produce. I’d show an out of town guest the breathtaking views of Los Angeles at night from the Griffith Observatory or a high rise building just off of the 405 at Sunset Blvd. I’m a sucker for a garden and two of my favorites are the Japanese Garden in Lake Balboa as well as the Huntington Gardens in Pasadena. An early morning visit to the Marina del Rey beach or the Malibu pier with Luxxe coffee in hand is also a good time in my book.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, my parents. Without their efforts of bringing me into this world, my work would not have been realized. My steadfast partner Jesse Siglow and my vibrant 3-year-old daughter, Olivia. They are the inspiration behind everything that I am pulled toward. Lastly, a very special human, Nathaniel Hodder-Shipp of Spirit + Ceremony, for opening my eyes to the world of healing through breathwork and all that is available on the other side. There are countless friends, mentors and supporters that have paved the way for me to be where I am today and I am forever grateful that our worlds collided.
