We had the good fortune of connecting with Lisa Holmes MSHR and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lisa, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
In my career, I’ve been passionate about training and coaching professionals to unleash their full potential to gain career success. While helping so many others be their best, I was silently managing a health issue which resulted in me gaining 100 lbs. After struggling with this condition for more than 20 years, I had a pivotal moment that led to conquering the disease and losing the weight and regaining my life. Now, through my site Honey + Company, I want to share my journey to Be Well & Live Well with others. T Through my social media interaction and ecommerce, I’ll inspire and introduce others to unique artisan accessory, beauty, food, home and wellness products that will activate you to live as your best self.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Most have known me in my 30+ years as a Human Resources executive working for and consulting with some of the best employers in the world. Or, as the Author of the best selling books, Job Hunting. NOW What? Keeping it Real In The Modern Career Search. Or possibly as a Media Contributor for Money Magazine, Fast Company, Career Builder, ReWork, Clutch and several others media outlets. I’ve always been passionate about helping others to find their success and remove barriers. It’s not been an easy journey. Throughout my career, I’ve reinvented myself to remain relevant and stretched boundaries in order to fuel my passion. In my life, I’ve learned to trust myself, listen to God speaking and act according to his purpose for me. I want the the world to know that YOU have the power to create the vision of the life that you want.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d take my friend to the Getty and Grammy museum, on a scenic drive down the PCH, spend the day at Butterfly Beach in Santa Barbara. Possibly eat at one of my favorite beach side restaurants, Dukes or The Cliffs.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband, James and daughters Brea and Halle are my biggest champions. I’ve admired and have much respect for B. Smith and Martha Stewart for paving this path for me.
