We had the good fortune of connecting with Lisa McCabe and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lisa, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Starting a company may be easy but the habits you create are what help you to keep the company growing and moving. There are 3 habits I created which have kept me sane and growing. They are: 1. Meditate
2. Get help
3. Take risks

I rely on my relationship with God and I start most morning meditating on scripture and the promises of the bible. They really help me get through my day feeling on top of things and help me keep a positive outlook on every situation. If the creator of the universe is on my side then nothing can stop me from doing my God given passion.

Getting help has been a non-negotiable. I am a mom of a 4 year old and 10 month old. It would be impossible to do everything on my own. We have gotten creative with how to hire affordable help. I have a person running our leads on commission so if we bring in money they get money. We have someone living with us for free in exchange for childcare. I have given parents free classes in exchange for help with the business. There is always ways to get help and you don’t have to spend an arm and a leg.

Taking risks is the only way to grow. You have to step out into the unknown using the peace you gained from meditation and the processes you have put in place because of the help you have around you. Without risk you can’t learn from your mistakes or know when something is working. Back in 2020 my husband and I took a risk on a marketing company. because we saved so much from getting creative with how we have help we had some money to spend. she was 2k a month and that was basically everything. That year because of the risk and her company we were featured on every major news station in america. CNN, GMA, local news and soooo many more,

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Lovely Leaps focuses on ages 10 months to 10 years old. We believe that every dancer should feel seen, heard and loved in their dance journey. What sets us apart is we starts at 10 months old and we really take into account the mental development and self esteem of a dancer. We want children not only to learn dance but to also grow in confidence.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had a friend come into town I would 100% show them our studio Lovely Leaps and then have brunch at the coffee shop attached to us called Manzanita Coffee. Then we would have a beach day and go to Sea World. The next day we would hit up a local park to hang with my little girls and then go to Twin Oaks Winery. There are a million things to do in San Diego but thats was just a few.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My amazing husband Ricky McCabe. It’s important to surround yourself with people who speak life giving words into your life. It was my husband who said I should own a dance studio. He saw the gold in me before I did. It’s because of his faith in me I was able to step out in faith and start Lovely Leaps.
