One of the most important lessons my business and career in art have taught me is to grow and evolve constantly. There is never a constant in running a business and you are encouraged to learn more about yourself in order to learn how to succeed. I believe the same is true with artists as well. As an artist, you are encouraged to grow and evolve throughout your career, and with that growth and evolution comes new ways of thinking, tackling problems, skills to apply, and techniques to add. One of the things my first painting teacher said was that painting teaches life to artists. I don’t remember anything else about the teacher, but her words sometimes come to mind when I am painting. When I first heard it, I didn’t understand. I thought it was a typical and incomprehensible figure of speech. While I was cleaning my room, I found an old note from the class explaining the element of value. It taught me how to pick yourself back up over and over again. How to be tired and still get up to do that little thing that’ll help temporarily, but have a long term effect on your artistic life. So the lesson is keep reaping new things that’ll help your business and sifting things that won’t. I’m not really sure how else to put it because I’m still growing these things and rooting out these other things still. So I don’t really wanna sound like i figured it all out because I’m really growing with you, my audience. We are growing together and honestly I can’t do it without y’all.
