We had the good fortune of connecting with Lisa McMillan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lisa, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind the success of our brand is trust from our customers that we are making the best, healthiest treats for their best friends.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Remy’s Kitchen was born from the love of my newly adopted dog from the shelter, Remy. I started cooking and preparing meals for Remy to find a recipe that didn’t aggravate his sensitivities. Diving into the world of dog nutrition, I learned so much and set out to create the perfect mixture of wholesome, clean, nutrient-rich recipes that did not contain any unnatural ingredients. I started cold calling anyone in the pet industry that would talk to me and met some amazing people along the way. Most all would not return my calls or emails, but the ones that did had great advice. Along the way, we decided to start off making freeze dried dog and cat treats because of the nutrients kept in the food during the process of being made. My advice is to make quality the number one priority. If you make the best product you could possibly make, ultimately people will take notice.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting Los Angeles from out of town we would for sure have to start the day out with a hike, the Griffith Park trails with views of the Hollywood sign never disappoint. Brunch at Cecconis is always great. We would end the day with drinks at Pump in their garden bar and dinner at Firefly.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to my husband who is there by my side everyday helping and supporting me every step of the way.
