We had the good fortune of connecting with Luis Vazquez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Luis, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
So ever since I bought my first laptop and camera 8 years ago I’ve had this fortune cookie quote taped onto my computer. The fortune says, “One dreamed of becoming somebody. Another remained awake and became.” Sheesh … POWERFUL lol. That line has been stuck with me since, and funny enough I’m having Chinese takeout for dinner after I finish this interview. Coincidence? I think NOT! That little piece of paper resonated with me simply because I needed a reminder that success is not just gonna happen overnight. Better yet it needs to happen through the night, EVERY NIGHT!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
So I’ve been a creative my whole life, but I picked up a camera when I was about 19 years old. I had this dream of being a vlogger, and somehow fell into a rabbit hole of music videos. That random rabbit hole turned into an actual business which is now Carrier Crumbs LLC. If you see a pigeon fly down before a music video, or even some random dudes with camera gear and pigeon heads…. that’s most likely us. D0n’t be alarmed! lol. What sets us apart is that we strive to build a community for underground artists. really sifting through talent and finding some dope human beings. Most directors nowadays will go for “clout” and big names only. Whereas we want to build up the next big names and create a supporting community alongside them. Still figuring out the correct way to go about creating a notable brand, but we believe this interview and things alike, are a step in the right direction. Doing something spectacular is never a simple task, and that’s why I had to grow my team. Luckily I sat next to a kid in my college design class at BMCC who also took note of what I was trying to create. Angel is responsible for everything BTS, essentially the vlogger I wasn’t able to be on my own. He has shown me that when people come together and believe in the same goals, the sky is the limit. Then next was my little brother Anthony who I kind of forced into making our merch, but I swear he enjoys it now. Having these guys on my team makes me hopeful for the growth of this brand and the growth of our community. The saying goes, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together” Wonder whose gonna get that fortune cookie.

If there’s anything I want people to take from Carrier Crumbs, it would be our slogan. “Spread The Crumbs” basically little acts of support may seem like nothing, but something as small as a loaf of bread can create a flock of pigeons and seeing a flock of pigeons fly TOGETHER is a beautiful thing.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend where to visit NYC I’d have to get them accustomed to the traditional Chopped cheese of course. That’s like going to Philly and needing a Philly cheesesteak. as far as itinerary Ny has so much to do, I remember one day I stepped outside and there was a whole freakin carnival just blocked off for miles. I love how random Ny can be. With that said, I wouldn’t really have a plan, more so just adventure about brooklyn or the city until you run into something intriguing. All about that spontaneity baby! Gotta remember though it cost about $100 just to step outside in Ny so that spontaneity will soon turn into “So let’s just chill at my place” real quick. Choose your adventures wisely haha.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There’s a lot of people in my life that deserve a shoutout because without everyone having their piece of influence on my life I wouldn’t be the person/creative I am today. Obviously I’m going to dedicate my shoutout to my mother. She has been the epitome of support. I hear a lot of the time that parents won’t support their child when they have an alternative dream or something more untraditional. Luckily my mother is also a creative, and a damn good one at that. Now celebrity makeup artist, my mother comes from a background of que tips and sponges at Clinique. She HUSTLED to get to where she is now, and who knows maybe she had her own fortune cookie too. I see her traveling the world now, and to think before all of this she was raising two kids all while working to get to this point. Inspiring, and I’m over here struggling while raising a cat. Shoutout mom Love you.
