We had the good fortune of connecting with Lynne Schaffer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lynne, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
Well, there’s actually two important decisions that contributed to my success. The first, was to follow my intuition (God’s guidance) and move to New York to further my career. The second, was getting sober (with God’s help)! Both of these decisions go hand in hand because one lead to the other, so they’re not in order of importance, but in order of sequence of events.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I was able to get to where I am today by all of the guidance I’ve had during my 15 year career with Dior cosmetics. I was able to implement all of the business and creative skills that I learned along the way, along with my artistic and entrepreneur spirit that I was born with, into my own business. It wasn’t always easy, of course, but those challenges helped me to get stronger, develop my skills and grow. I’ve learned that obstacles are opportunities! I want people to know that my brand isn’t just about makeup, fragrance and skincare, but that it’s about helping people feel more confident and more beautiful. It’s about mental health!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First, I would, of course, take them to my shop in Mount Dora, which is inside an amazing store called Papilio! We’d shop in Papilio and check out their beautiful nature inspired gifts and botanical garden. Then, we’d visit another shop within Papilio, called Jewelry by TFC, and treat ourselves to magic! We’d grab a coffee across the street at One Flight Up and if they wanted an alcoholic beverage (I don’t drink) and take them to The Cellar Door or Bubbles and Juice. All of the restaurants in town are amazing, as well! Then, we’d head back to my home in downtown Orlando, hang out at my place, then maybe take a walk around Lake Eola. We’d visit Park Avenue in Winter Park and probably head to Disney Springs for shopping. I’m sure we’d squeeze in a theme park trip to SeaWorld, Disney or Universal Studios.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
God and all of the people that He places in my life!
