We had the good fortune of connecting with Mahir Nebeu and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mahir, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
I unknowingly discovered resilience. I am an adamant vessel of seeing things through to completion. I have a Taurus Sun and a Taurus Rising, with an Aries moon. I am far too competitive to give up. Metaphorically speaking, if you were in an English class, reading over an intriguing thriller, but with a slow start, you can’t skip ahead to the climax. You’ll miss specific details of what was required leading to the storyline’s unfolding.. I advise witnessing all complexities before attempting to overlook detail. There are prevalent ways in correcting our thought process. Be with yourself in the moment, experience the energy of shifting perspective, see the work completed, and continue exercising optimism. I believe people shouldn’t throw in the towel so quickly. There are plenty of chances your next strike could be the blow to gold. You could be one metamorphosis away from elevated beauty! Shy away from in the cocoon, spread your wings and captivate the world with your special unique in whatever form that may be. No matter how far off the process appears, just do it. Keep going. Trust the process and remember, it’s not the destination. However, the journey.
Blessings,
M

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Hmm, being multifaceted in many pockets of my life, I have numerous outlets for artistic expression. I’m a recording artist, singer-songwriter, audio engineer, upcoming author, an actor, photographer, fashion stylist, self taught Chef, and visual designer. I’m no different than the next human, but what I do believe is my creator imbedded within myself sacred and distinctive qualities. I thank God for the knitting of vision’s, positioning me to bring forth those mental manifestation and ideas into physical matter. It’s such a mind blowing phenomenon, to actually see it, believe it and to touch it. We are all assembled separately, yes? Or designed with specific blueprints if you will? I have come across persons at a time, getting lost in their own shadows for dimming their light, in order for others to glow. Listen. Let your light shine. You never know who needs an illuminated path for themselves to reach the special aspect that makes them, well, them. Merging into the next question, I’m most proud of the amount of tenacity and resilience I possess. There is nothing easy about the process. They say, what comes easy won’t last, but what lasts, won’t come easy. This life is a complexity of consistent configuration. I’m nowhere near professional industry standards, but I know that I’m well on my way, in my own right and with my own dedication. I want the world to know my story. I’m signaling to those who don’t think there’s a way out. There absolutely is! For those who have extreme creativity and big hearts, but stagnant in their restless spirits, dark thoughts, depression and anxiety. Listen, we were created to create! Get that art out there, because you don’t want to leave this world full. You want to be empty, and free once leaving your mark in whatever space that is for you to fill up. Get up, fight, and create. I hope my art inspires those in that way, with this article being the ignitor.
Thank you,
M

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Let’s see, I haven’t had the luxury of exploring the body of LA just yet, but soon. But, being from the south side of Georgia, I tend to make extravagant the resources I do have. If you know me, then you’d know that I’m huge on hosting. That’s one of the reason I became a self taught chef and studying culinary. I love hosting and showing my friends/family a grand time. I’m myself, (Shantavious) around my people, so there’s little to no career work taking place. With my best friends, we would most definitely have a spa day first. I am quite big on self care, so I’d call my girl Cammie to set up a hydro facial, hit Melrose Ave for a quick mani pedi and mimosas. We’d for sure go to Malibu for dinner at this exclusive restaurant recommended by Vivica A. Fox. I really enjoy nature and feel we’d drive up to Monrovia in the mountains with my husky. I thoroughly enjoy the beach to just unwind, reset and relax. Ending days, check out the street market on Sunday morning in DTLA (downtown Los Angeles) to purchase essentials. And finally, we’d go shopping for neck breaking looks for the arena concert.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Well, essentially, I have to thank God. My creator, who has pushed, pulled and sculpted me through the fire, honing my glass’s durable uniqueness and shine. I’d undoubtedly like to recognize all things, my creator has made possible. Instrumentally, and forever supporting me along the way. To my close family members, and new befitting friends I’ve gained since moving to Los Angeles, nothing goes unnoticed with me. You know who you are. So, I say thank you for your contributions as well. Whether it had been financial, a bowl of cereal or even a simple sincere prayer. Michelle Obama stated in an interview, “there is power in small”. I believe the nucleus of it all, took place for the likeness characterizing the supportive environment I now thrive in. I appreciate, without exception, every being who has had their hand in my life, as mine in theirs.
Love,
M
