We had the good fortune of connecting with Manon Berryman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Manon, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I think about risks as a way of challenging yourself and putting into action what’s you’ve been thinking about doing. In a simpler word: Manifestation,
A risk is something that’s going to make you go out of your comfort zone and experience, no matter the outcome, it’s a lesson. That’s how I learn to take it. lol
Without risks there’s nothing to accomplish. Without risks there’s no manifestation.
I had the opportunity to visit Los Angeles in 2015 for my plus size modeling career. I decided even if I wasn’t speaking a single word in English to stay in LA as an immigrant, and it has changed my life for the better and made me a stronger. I was in a foreign country and couldn’t speak English. But I took the plunge and I had to restart my life from scratch.
From that risks I actually ended up manifesting my wildest dreams. delete next sentence
Without taking that big risk I would have never reached the life I’ve always dreamed about that’s mine today.
I had to work hard, had no choice but sleep on the streets a few nights once, been abused by people I thought I could call friends, but I always believe in my ideal and perfect picture of the life I wanted.
I worked for it, learned English by myself. My challenging days were meant to be. It made me stronger and made me found people that I was destined to meet.
Taking risks if what bring success. If you fail, it’s a lesson. If you’re rejected you’re being actually redirected. Keep on pushing.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I worked as an Instagram Influencers from 2013 until 2020. I was advertising for brands, I had some plus size modeling gigs. But truly found myself more invested in building my own business in digital marketing since the days I was in France. I’ve always loved working in the digital industry and marketing.
After a few years of experience and the support of my friends, family and clientele, I decided to start my Social Media & Digital Marketing company to help out businesses, skincare brands, plastic surgeons, MedSpas, TV shows and many more, with their digital marketing strategies.
At first, I was just sharing about my self-love and body image issues and tried to grow a community of women who were tired of feeling down or not good enough because of the Beauty Standards we have nowadays. And then they started following me in my move to California and experience as a young woman who wants to build a strong career by herself. I feel my audience changed and evolve as well as I did change and evolve myself too. 🙂
I want the world to know that if you feel limited it’s not because of where you’re from or because of not having money. It’s because of yourself not believing your dreams can become true. Travel to that country you’ve always been attracted to.
Change your career and quit your job if it doesn’t bring joy. You’ll figure out the deets by itself. Stop giving yourself excuses for not doing what you want to be doing.
Believe in yourself and people will believe in you in returns. Who’s going to trust you and make business with you if you can’t even do it for yourself? Quote from a very inspiring friend of mine Ariela Danielle from the show 90 Day Fiance @arieladanielle on Instagram. This is on her bio and it has been inspiring me for awhile. Ariela opened her Travel Agency in Ethiopia to help with tourism in a country that we don’t always think about for a travel destination at first. She also became a mom in a foreign country and has a YouTube channel where she will be sharing her Stories.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I always had that experience when I finally was able to afford my parents and little sister a 2 weeks trip to LA back in 2018.
After 4 years without seeing them since I decided to stay live in LA, I was able to bring them here in the city and we had a lot of fun!
First stop was a nail salon, I got my whole family manicure and pedicure after their long flight. LA manicurists are the best.
(And always think about offering to pay a bit more for safer products by the way! And keep it local, we need to help out our local businesses!)
Then we decided to stop at Universal Studios the amusement park! For a special day.
We ended up also renting some bikes at Venice Beach and biking all along the ocean. From Venice Beach to Malibu.
I would eat breakfast at The Marmelade Cafe, their bacon bloody Mary’s are amazing!
Then we would try the famous fast foods like In-and-out since it’s not available in France yet!
Then for dinner, Korean bbq! My favorite is on Koreantown Bud Namu for some all you can eat Korean bbq!
Hollywood Blvd, the Hollywood sign and so many more places to visit in LA.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I can be grateful for the people I met who believe in me. My clients who trusted me and gave me business. My family who supported me. My friends who always recommended me and were also super supportive. Even the bad influences and people who emotionally hurt me, made me stronger. So I’ll give a shout-out to all the people close to me and all the haters too. 🤣😁
