We had the good fortune of connecting with Martha Salmon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Martha, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
My favorite quote is “The best view comes after the hardest climb” (I don’t know the creator of the quote)

This quote means so much to me because I truly believe it can be applied to so many aspects of your life. Nothing comes easy, all great things, all achievements all your success takes time, effort and a lot of hard work.

Having two kids by the time I was 22, working full time, going to school full time, learning how to be a mom and growing up as a wife, all those things took such a toll on me. There were days I didn’t think I was going to make it, but now that I am “at the top, enjoying the view” I know that the climb was 100% worth it, and I would do it all over again to be able to get this view.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Latinx, RN was originally created as a fun way to show your pride of being a Latinx Nurse. Little did I know that it would turn into a whole community and a space to share stories and journeys of Latinx Nurses all over the world in hopes to encourage and inspire more Latinx individuals to join the nursing field.

Since the start of Latinx, RN we’ve been able to give away scholarships, we’ve shared so many stories and have truly inspired so many people along the way. I hope to see Latinx, RN grow into a larger company in order to serve more people and continue to raise the number of Latinx nurses in the world.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I may be a little biased but we would have to go to a Dodger game, for sure. I love how close all the theme parks are so We’d absolutely go to Disneyland & Universal Studios.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I cannot take any credit for my success without giving the biggest shout out to my biggest fans: my two kids Audria and Elias, and my supportive husband Danny. They saw me through sleepless nights, so many tears missed events due to school and work, and I could only hope they know how much they mean to me.
