We had the good fortune of connecting with Maria A. Rodriguez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maria A., how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I’ve come to understand that self-care is necessary to maximize productivity. Working long hours at the expense of our physical and mental health won’t yield the desired outcome. I think we all need to strive to work smarter, not harder!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started a blog back in 2012 in my hometown, Colombia, and I can say blogging quite literally changed my life. It not only helped me understand where the future was going – before most people- but it also opened up great career opportunities. Within months of starting blogging, I was offered my first job in broadcast television. Later on, it was the path for me to get a scholarship at USC and then the reason why I couldn’t help but to be curious about the influencer marketing industry. Today, I keep fueling my passions. I have a podcast and I work at an influencer marketing agency where I get to keep exploring the evolution of digital technologies and its impact on society. When I look back on my life, I am happy to say I have followed my heart. Can’t say it has always been easy but I’ve carved out my path following my passions. And that makes me proud.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
LA has so much to offer. I think no LA itinerary should look the same… But here I’ll share MUST-see spots (forget COVID19 is a thing). – Wanna catch a good sunset? Go to the Griffith observatory or to Point Dume (Both?). – Ride a bike from Santa Monica to Venice. Head to Abbot Kinney and don’t forget to get a Salt & Straw ice cream 🙂 – Go dance at The Friend @ Silverlake or EchoPlex. – Catch a performance @ the Hollywood Bowl or one of LA’s iconic venues. – Hike to the Wisdom Tree. – Visit Downtown LA’s breweries and check out the arts district. – Brunch @ any rooftop: Perch, Mama shelter – Some of my fav restaurants: L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele, Kazunori, Salazar
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family- no doubt. Number one supporters in the world! Making them proud is my biggest motivator.
