We had the good fortune of connecting with Maria Helena Corrêa Anderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maria Helena, looking back, what do you think was the most difficult decision you’ve had to make?
I think the most difficult decision I’ve ever had to make was to accept the consequences of my choice to stay in the US when my first husband left our family and decided to move back to Brazil. My three children were still minors, one of them was just 6 years old and I had no family in the country. I believe, with all my heart, that healing was what I came to do on this earth, and going back to Brazil meant to not fulfill my dreams, purpose, and convictions.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
“Corpo e Alma Healing was created to inspire and empower our community through self-awareness and inner peace”. This is the mission statement of my business. My great passion is to share with people our innate ability to heal ourselves through the use of practices such as Qigong, Meditation, Sound Healing, and TAT (Tapas Acupressure Technique) to name a few. I believe what sets my practice apart from others is the different approaches to energy healing, and customized sessions, and the “tools” that are given to each client. Each individual must be an active participant on their own healing journey. I am proud to offer an honest and sincere approach to the many possibilities we have for healing if we are willing to do our work. Clients can feel results very quickly and that gives them hope. This is something really rewarding for anyone working in the field of holistic healing! The path to get where I am today had many, many challenges for sure. When I opened my practice I was going through a divorce raising three children, all of them still minor (the youngest just 7 years old). My whole family lives in Brazil, so I had to figure out how to juggle being a mom, being a healer, and find ways to make a dream, a life purpose, become a successful business. I learned many invaluable lessons of perseverance, courage, and determination! I learned that when we truly have a clear vision of our life’s purpose, no matter how rough and challenging the path, we will walk through it all with the certainty that there will be light at the end of the tunnel and a fulfilled heart will be the reward. I want the world to know that I came to this Earth to contribute to healing, to help create a world more compassionate, more equal. A world that values every one of us, so our human family can heal and truly love each other as one. My story was one of great pain and challenges and yet one that brought me a life filled with joy and more love than I ever thought was possible. Creating a sacred space where people can feel embraced in love, feel heard, and have the courage to walk a path of healing, no matter how difficult that might be, knowing that they are always supported…that is what Corpo e Alma Healing is about.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my friend to watch a play or a concert at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza (if there are no Covid restrictions of course) and eat at Mandarin Lotus restaurant, where Kim and Dan would serve us delicious Chinese Fusion vegan meals with exquisite teas. A good walk at the Gardens of the World to have a peaceful conversation and appreciate nature will be in the itinerary. Around where we live there are beautiful hiking places, like the Wildwood Regional Park with the beautiful Paradise Falls. Lang Ranch and the Chumash Museum to feel appreciation and honor the Native Americans.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I certainly had the privilege to come in contact with wonderful mentors that help me to build the skills and confidence to do the work I do. Body & Brain (Dahn Yoga organization) provided me with fundamental teachings in the energy field to get started on my journey of Energy Healing. Dr. Kyung Lee is a very skilled and knowledgeable acupuncturist with whom I shared office for many years. He taught me (and continues to teach) precious ancient wisdom in the field of energy meridians and physical imbalance. Tapas Fleming is a jewel in the field of releasing traumas from body, mind, and spirit. Her technique TAT (Tapas Acupressure Technique) is of great value for all human beings walking on this Earth. I have had the privilege to be trained by her and see simply phenomenal results in my practice. Master Chunyi Lin is the founder of Spring Forest Qigong. His teachings are the cherry on top of everything I have learned and continue to learn, using energy as “medicine” to keep the balance in our physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing.
