Meet Mark Vogel: Music Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mark Vogel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mark, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Good one! I was a kid when I got into television and boom, my career started. So I guess my thought was, “I want to buy a car when I’m 16 so I’ll take the job” haha. Starting VMN Productions, Inc. was my agents idea, when I was starting a new series for ABC and she thought it best for me to start my own production company. She was RIGHT….it’s been awesome!
I think a good thought on any business is getting advise from the very best people, people you trust.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Currently, I’m doing what will perhaps be my biggest project to date. I actually begin production this month and am excited to announce soon. That being said, I’ve had a amazing career so far. I’ve worked on 10 television series, highlighted by 3 hits and some awards. I’m doing film #9 and producing several new artist records this year.
Was it easy? LOL. I don’t think this is an EASY industry, but I do think it’s an AMAZING industry!
As far as lessons learned…I was just talking about this yesterday with a friend. You have to tell people what you want to do. It may sound simple, but it’s hard to say your dreams out loud at first. Of course, if you think about it, how can we help you if we don’t know what you want. So, I would tell new artist to go ahead and speak out about your desires and it will actually help those who can help you get there.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
No brainer…..DISNEYLAND. I grew up near the park and went all the time. A group of incredible people will make it even better (plus you can ride rides together). Start out with Mickey Mouse pancakes when you first get there…a must.
If this is a week long trip…Hollywood is a destination and check out clubs with new talent.
BOA steakhouse or THE IVY will be the choice for dinner!
As great as sights are in LA, I recommend spending time with the right people…that’s my idea of a good time 😉

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am surrounded by amazing people! This is a question I could answer all day!
I’m going to ‘shoutout’ my parents on this one. They supported my music from the very beginning. A 4 year old kid who wanted a piano and lessons is a tall order, when you’re one of 5 kids! Then later, as I played ALL day long, they had a addition to the house (with doors haha) so I could play all I wanted! The first charting hit I had, “CARRY U WITH ME” was written about them. The Pointer Sisters sang on a version as a long song, Then Jonathan Pierce charted top ten with a version on the Inspirational Charts. I guess it’s a song about love, no matter how it’s sung. Pretty awesome.
