Meet Markia Butler: Actor, Dancer, Model, & Business Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Markia Butler and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Markia, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I am from Jacksonville, Florida. I grew up attending the Boys and Girls Club doing lots of sports and lots of art-related activities throughout the academic years and summer programs. I have been an actress/entertainer since I was born 😊. I have been dancing since I was five years old. I have been a junior safety patrol, peer mediation advisor, and have given away holiday turkeys with the NFL Jacksonville Jaguars team when I was in elementary school. I have been a part of a program called 4H for about 10 years of my life when I was in grade school. It is a volunteer program which cleans up trash within the community, give to those in need, bake cookies for firefighters, and go to nursing homes to play board games with the elderly and read books to them. Also, 4H has a lot to do with Agriculture, properly taking care of animals, and protecting the land.
I attended a theater performing arts school: shout out to Lavilla Middle School of the Arts. I had traveled much growing up and I have participated in various community events. I perceive to have grown up as a humanitarian.
Now as an adult I have seen various attributes of my childhood that has made me a well-rounded individual. I still find little ways to give back in big ways. I have enjoyed being involved in community events. I love supporting other businesses while building my own, which is a clothing brand I want to see go global, because it conveys the message of love. That is what everyone needs so much of today. My brand is called LET YOUR LOVE BE REAL. We are found at letyourlovebereal.com. We give back to the community when we have sales. We are able to provide things like Toothbrushes, moisturizers, snacks, socks and more.
My business is reaching people I did not know would see my brand. It gives me hope when others acknowledge what I am doing, and see the need for sharing LOVE. I am an actor, a small business owner, a friend, a sister, a niece, an aunt, and a daughter. I support the community and have grown to understand you must have boundaries because there are people who do not want you to succeed. You must also appreciate others because there are genuine people who are absolutely amazing and desire to see you become successful.
You must be grateful and humble because you do not know what others are going through. Be kind and be thankful you are never alone on your individual journey, and of course, you must Let Your Love Be Real!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I love people. I love stories. I love the truth of stories and the creative mind. I am the new host of “Let Your Love Be Real Talk Show”. We debut on June 1st, 2021 at 8:00pm on Roku the show airs on KP Media TV. We cover topics on shame, friendship, codependency, and how are we making a difference in our community. We have heartwarming interviews and celebrity interviews. We also have a fitness aspect to the show. We are found at lylbr.com
All of our journey’s are so different and how you see something is totally different then what others will see. A lesson I have learned along the way. Patience, kindness and integrity to self are great tools in navigating each day we get a chance to explore ourselves and this earth. I have overcome challenges with the understanding that Love has boundaries. I pray more, read more, and I am open to learning everyday.
I am most proud of coming up with my brand/ clothing business “Let Your Love Be Real” and working on it daily and Talk Show.
I am also most proud of my acting ability as a voiceover artist and my career and my dreams coming true. It’s been hard but a complete blessing. Giving up is not an option. You know you are getting close to where you want to be and you cannot give up. I write love letters, which a book is coming soon about life, healing, and more. Be on the look out.
I believe in you. I know you are an amazing person and I know you will achieve what you believe. Keep growing, limit distractions, and love more than ever.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Wow. Best places to eat while you are here in town visiting with me we must go to Inglewood and explore all the food trucks near Leimert Park on a Sunday. Then we got to go over to Malibu and eat on the beach at Paradise Cove. We must explore downtown LA and do a few rooftops such as Perch. Then stop by Melrose and just walk the blocks and pick a restaurant because there are some really cool spots. We definitely have to stop by the arts area out near Santa Monica when they have their food trucks on those special Fridays and we must pack our own food and eat in a park. As far as hangout spots we got to go skating, bowling, indoor rock climbing, and Dave & Buster’s to play the arcades games. Horseback riding up at the ranches. Then we can definitely explore Griffith and go down to Long Beach and catch one of the boats cruises down that way. Then slide on over to Catalina Island. And may have to take a Quick trip up to Vegas. I go to Vegas so much. “Are you coming with me? Lol”
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The Boys & Girls Club of Northeast Florida and 4-H Youth Volunteer program played a huge role in my pruning. My family and friends have been exceptional. Keeping a judge-free zone, always welcoming with loving arms and being able to talk things out and gain different perspectives. My siblings! Y’all Rock. My beautiful friends, thank y’all for always believing in me. My actor friends, love y’all dearly! Thank you to everyone who has supported my Global Love Brand and for letting your love be real!
