We had the good fortune of connecting with Marlene Chaker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marlene, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I started my business, I didn’t have a master plan. The appraisal management industry was still new, and most of us were figuring it out as we went. My “aha” moment came when I realized I kept saying, “There has to be a better way to do this.” I saw gaps in communication, structure, and ethics, and I knew they affected everyone involved.

That realization pushed me to take a chance and build something rooted in accountability and trust. I didn’t know where it would lead, but I was willing to learn, adapt, and stay committed. What started as a leap into the unknown turned into a purpose-driven business focused on doing things the right way, and that mindset continues to guide me today.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
AAA Appraisal Management Company was built on resilience, accountability, and trust. What sets us apart is not just what we do, but how we do it. From the beginning, my goal was to create an appraisal management company that respected the people behind the process, clients, appraisers, and team members alike, while holding ourselves to the highest ethical and compliance standards.

Getting here was not easy. I started the business at a time when the appraisal management industry was still new, and there was no clear roadmap. I learned through trial and error, persistence, and a willingness to grow in the face of uncertainty. There were moments when challenges felt overwhelming, but I stayed focused on long-term goals and on doing the right thing, even when it was hard.

What I am most proud of is the team and network of appraisers and vendors who helped shape the company. This business was never built alone. The trust and commitment of the people who believed in the vision, even during difficult times, are the reasons AAA AMC continues to grow and adapt.

Along the way, I learned that leadership isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about listening, staying resilient, and being accountable to the people who rely on you. I also learned that sustainable success comes from integrity, consistency, and relationships, not shortcuts.

What I want the world to know about my brand and story is that growth doesn’t require perfection or certainty. It requires courage, responsibility, and perseverance. AAA AMC is proof that when you lead with purpose and surround yourself with the right people, you can build something meaningful that stands the test of time.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend visited for a week, I’d want them to experience both the energy of Las Vegas and the beauty that surrounds it. We’d start slowly. I love to cook so that the first night would be at home with a homemade meal, good wine, and long conversations. That’s always the best way to reconnect and set the tone for the week.

During the week, we’d enjoy some of my favorite parts of the city, great dining, live entertainment, and maybe a relaxed night on the Strip or Downtown to watch and take in the atmosphere. I love mixing the excitement of Vegas with moments that feel personal and grounded.

One day would be dedicated to getting out of the city. Last January I took a close friend to the Grand Canyon, and it was unforgettable. We also stopped at Hoover Dam, which never fails to put things into perspective. Those trips remind me how important it is to slow down, appreciate nature, and see things from a bigger view.

The week would be a balance of home-cooked meals, meaningful time together, exploring, and creating memories. For me, the best experiences aren’t about doing everything; they’re about sharing moments with the people you care about and making them feel at home, wherever you are.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I honestly would not be where I am today without my team and the appraisers and vendors who stood beside me along the way. Every single one of them helped shape the company we are today. I firmly believe that a leader is not someone who walks ahead alone; a true leader is surrounded by their team and grows alongside them.

From the early days through the most challenging moments, my team believed in me and trusted my vision, even when the path wasn’t clear. There were times when challenges felt overwhelming, and giving up crossed my mind, but knowing that others depended on me and believed in what we were building kept me going.

Their loyalty, commitment, and resilience are the reasons I continued to push forward. This journey has never been just mine; it has always been ours. I am deeply grateful for the people who never gave up on me, because they are the proper foundation behind everything I have built.
