We had the good fortune of connecting with Marshall Nyman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marshall, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Originally I started the business as a side project and never really thought about building a company. At the end of 2019 I was unhappy with where I was at in my career and wasn’t feeling satisfied. The Pandemic ended up being a catalyst for everything since it forced me to take the business seriously. Everyone was at home and business’s were leaning into marketing online. Brands started asking me for affiliate marketing advice and by the end of 2020 I knew NYMO was going to be something, which lead me to quit my full time job in the summer of 2022.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
NYMO is an Affiliate Marketing agency that specializes in content based partnerships. We bring a consultant style approach to the agency model by having highly experienced team members that truly understand the value of affiliate marketing. We take a fresh approach to affiliate marketing which separates our strategies from other agencies and truly drives brand awareness and new customer growth for our clients.

I love running a business that allows people to live their lives the best way they can by giving them a remote work environment. Everyone in the company has the flexibility to work whenever, wherever and however they want. This is a lifestyle business, NYMO gives me the opportunity to spend time with my family, travel and not feel the stress of the corporate world. It also gives me the chance to allow my employees to do the same.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a South Bay guy and love supporting all the local spots. In the morning we’d grab a Matcha Latte from TOT Coffee and then head to Phannys for a breakfast burrito and eat them by the Esplanade in Redondo. The best way to start the day is a walk along the beach. There’s nothing like that ocean air to get your day going. Then we would head to the Wilson Park Farmers market where we do all of our food shopping- they have everything from fresh fish, seasonal fruits and veggies, homemade baklava to kombucha. My favorite spot to grab a casual lunch is Waka Sakura in Toyko Central, my kids love the conveyor belt and it’s fresh and fast for the little ones. After lunch we always make a stop at Kansha Creamery, it’s by far the best small batch ice cream around and flavors change weekly. My family and I love catching a show at the Hollywood Bowl, we took the kids to see Phish there not too long ago and it was epic. Nothing like the iconic setting of The Bowl and letting your kids experience live music! For dinner, I love Hachi in Torrance, it’s a tiny spot in a strip mall with creative Izakaya dishes.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family is definitely my biggest inspiration and support system. My Grandfather was my mentor, and true entrepreneur. He and my Father successfully grew a business together. They really set the example for me on how start and grow a business. I definitely couldn’t do what I’m doing without the support of my wife. I run everything by her, ask her opinion on business strategies and clients. She’s been by my side with the business since day one and has stood by me on this roller coaster of entrepreneurship–she’s always encouraged me and cheered me on. My kids are really what push me to do better everyday, I work hard for their futures and I love teaching them about what it means to cave your own path.
