We had the good fortune of connecting with Mauricio Lopez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mauricio, what’s your definition for success?
I think what defines it is not the accomplishments of what we once aimed to obtain, but the process to get there. Success is built with our perseverance and courage to push through, even when difficult times, self-doubt, and criticism knock on our door. It is found in the people we meet on the way, the experiences we live, and the lessons we learn that help us get to that state. Success more than money, fame, and recognition, is to find something we love and fight for it until proves to us how far can we go, how much we can grow, and that what we thought was impossible is possible. Success to me is what fills us with wisdom and happiness and there is no greatest success than that.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a person who has always been interested in art, photography, music, design, and anything that has to do with being creative. I have explored different creative mediums that have expanded my knowledge and satisfy my curiosity which pushes me to look for more. In the way I have met great people who have helped me get where I am today. It has not been an easy road but a worthy one to explore. Always learning, adapting and persevering by taking the challenges that have been presented to me as a lesson to be better and  overcome all the obstacles and adversities in my life.

Creativity has taught me how to find solutions and to think outside the box. I love working with people and businesses that want to grow and reach their goals and that want to collaborate to develop and create ideas into a tangible and memorable things.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I will take them to the museums in balboa park if we get the chance to visit LACMA, The broad or smaller but cool galleries around town. To eat I will probably take them to eat some Italian food in little Italy or visit the liberty station public market which has a variety of great food and drinks. Maybe explore the different local breweries we have here, listen to live music at Casbah, go into the different trails we have to hike, watch the sunset from the beautiful beaches. the possibilities are infinite!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to thank a lot of people starting with my family for all their support and love, my great friend and mentor Chris Wimpey who have believe in me and taught me many great things, my friends who have been there for me even on my craziest moments and ideas, the people who have trust me, my work and my vision, all the artist that I have had the opportunity to meet and work with, each person who I have met in the road and who have shared their story with me. those who keep encouraging me to be better, all my teachers from who I’ve learned, the people who have left but have space in my memory and my heart. i want to say thank you to everybody who has bring somehow happiness and wisdom into my life no matter how our relation is right now.
