Meet Max Lorei | Photographer and Portrait Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Max Lorei and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Max, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I was really bad at working for other people. I have a very picky and specific mindset. Having my own business always fit my personality much better.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a photographer and portrait artist. I love creating images that are ethereal, painterly, cinematic and beautiful. I started working for a photographer when I was 25. It gave me some belief in my ability. I sort of did it as a hobby, but then I Launched the business in 2021 right in the middle of covid. I think the biggest thing that is helpful, is listening to people who have already had success as photographers. Another big thing that was helpful is just realizing, you have to go all in to have success. The one thing I would want the world to know about Loreaux Photography, is that, we can make you look beautiful, awkward you, camera shy you, don’t like your photos taken you, come as you are!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my friend was visiting LA. Man there is so many cool place in Los Angeles. My favorite bar of all time is Good Times At Davey Wayne’s in Hollywood. I also really love No Vacancy and Bungalow in Santa Monica. One of my favorite places to photograph people in LA is El Matador Beach up in Malibu, Palos Verdes is a close second. There is a reason why LA became a movie making hub, there is so much visual diversity in the city when it comes, to people, locations, cuisine and everything else in between.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
It’s cliche, but I had really great parents. I owe a ton to them.
