We had the good fortune of connecting with Melodie Yashar and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Melodie, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
I am working to build and deploy technologies on the Moon, as part of NASA’s plan to sustain a permanent human presence on the Lunar surface.
What should our readers know about your business?
SEArch+ is the only team to win both of NASA design solicitations for a 3D-Printed Habitat. Winning first prize in design (twice) in NASA’s Challenge was unprecedented, and launched a career and a lifelong passion to not only envision but to realize a future in which we may construct habitats on the surface of the Moon and Mars.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Musso & Frank (can’t beat a classic), The Museum of Jurassic Technology, the Hollywood Bowl
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout goes to the SEArch+ team—including the contractors, consultants and collaborators who have worked with us—which have changed and grown rapidly throughout the years. My second shoutout goes to San Jose State Research Foundation and the HCI group at NASA Ames, for bringing me onto the team, being a truly supportive and inspirational community, and making a lifelong dream of mine come true.
