We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michael, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
The principal that matters most to me is that my reputation is the most valuable asset I have. Every positive customer interaction is another brick in the foundation of the business I want to build. In our immensely connected world a bad review can become widespread very quickly. Therefore I really concentrate on supplying as much value as I can to customers. As a photographer, I am in a field that fosters a personal connection to my customers. The word of mouth advertising that you get can really make or break you.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m lucky because I’ve owned several businesses before my current one. So I knew it was going to be a years long process with no guarantees of success along the way. I knew I had a natural talent for visualization that I developed as a landscape designer. Heck yeah it’s hard. Calculated risk and a Plan B are good habits to get into. Covid taught us all that we cannot control everything. I make the best out of every opportunity and put as much effort into the finished product as I can. Got to keep that reputation working for me, you know?
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In my spare time, as an avid landscape photographer, we’d hit a In and Out, check out the Santa Monica Pier, Hollywood Blvd and then do a road trip to either Joshua Tree or Death Valley. After that back to LA -Olvera Street, Grand Central Market and the Fashion District. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to thank Noell, CIE Magazine, Valley Girl Beauty, Parris Harris, McQueenz Magazine, Nadia McQueen, Raw Rose Clothing, Oliventa, Underrated LA, Top Shape, Valsky, Lumiere Runway, 2baecation Swimwear, DM Collections, OBEO and Legendary Virtual Tours all of whom have played major roles in my career as a professional photographer.
