Meet Michelle Accetta | Realtor & Feng Shui Practitioner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelle Accetta and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michelle, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
For some reason, I use a lot of analogies when I think about big concepts. When I think about balance, I think of a river. I see our human experience like the water and what life presents us like the earth. The beautiful balance between the two, to me, is life in flow… which is the ultimate balance! I think balance is in being like the water, adjusting our reactions and output depending on what life throws us, much like the water does as it moves through earth. It’s persistent when presented with rocks and boulders, heroic when flowing over ledges, at times meandering through winding turns, and what I would like to think of as having fun speeding through large valleys! Being in balance is being present with what life presents us moment after moment.
I didn’t always have this concept of balance. If you rewind the clock a few years I was always pushing, disconnected from what was presented in front of me which resulted in a lot of burnout, being unmotivated, and lacking clarity. I used to get a lot of anxiety about what would come after I finished a project to the point where I would stay in a project longer than I should have in fear of what I would do in the unknown space after I completed my current project. Those thoughts would mentally take me out of the project at hand. Once I let them go, became present in what I was working on and let life flow… like the river… I was able to fully give my talents to what was in front of me and let the river guide me to what is next! I now see things in cycles and waves, much like the different terrains of a river everything will pass, and being present with what is, to me, is the most powerful lesson I have learned in staying in balance.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am a Gemini… creative, vivacious, and the notorious twins of western astrology… people say we have split personalities… (I might be a little guilty of that… I’m extremely outgoing and also totally love being by myself sometimes). Over the course of my life, I never connected much with the idea of the duality of the twins until a few years ago when I really took a look at what I wanted for myself in the future of my career. I had been a successful Luxury agent in LA/ the South Bay for years yet, I felt a part of my passion for working with energy and the design of spaces was missing from my work. I had been practicing different energy healing modalities and it was a big part of my life yet there was such a disconnect from that “work” and my work… I wanted to bridge that gap to have a business that is a most authentic expression of myself.
So what did I do? I dug into the disconnect… and got connected! Not going to pretend it was totally comfortable, it was not, but I was on a mission to merge the two worlds of energy and real estate in a way that served the highest and greatest good… AND used my natural and learned talents (I’m a master at understanding a space, energy, and very creative). On my path, I took a deep dive into studying the chakra system, became a breathwork teacher and numerologist… all fun things to learn, but none bridged the gap until I reconnected with Feng Shui. It was something I had dabbled in before and really loved, but never dove into fully mastering the art because I never fully studied it. Once I found the right teachers and mentors and began my studies I instantly knew I found the missing connection!
If you don’t know what Feng Shui is, it’s known as the art of placement, it works with the physical layout of someone’s home, office, or commercial space to support them energetically. In my opinion… everyone needs Feng Shui because the energy of your home affects you no matter if you believe it does, or not, so it’s important to have the energy support you in a positive way.
After studying Feng Shui the duality was gone… I was whole… finally! What I like to call myself is a Feng Shui Realtor. I help people buy and sell real estate using my 10 years of experience selling luxury real estate while supporting the entire process using Feng Shui. When real estate clients either list or buy their homes with me, they choose to work with Feng Shui to support them in letting go of their home and calling in a new owner and/or creating a new space that supports their lives and goals on an energetic level. I also work with clients outside of real estate doing Feng Shui consultations on a global scale, working either via zoom or in-person through my website EllementHouse.com. Additionally, I educate real estate professionals across the country on how to work with Feng Shui on a very simple level to support their clients and get their homes sold by offering educational workshops. In my free time, I create artwork that works with the elements to enhance the Feng Shui of a person’s home that I sell on my website as well.
What I have learned in the journey to what I call alignment is that it really is all about being present and being true to yourself. The water in the river flows with what is and how it is, doesn’t try to be a rock… it’s always water and it uses its best quality of flow to work with what it is presented. Balance is everything. I want people to know that the journey to aligning with yourself is not the easiest but in the end, it feels good and that’s what really matters.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ooo I love this question!! My favorite thing to do is travel… and wrapping this all back to the first question, I think the perfect trip is full of… drum roll please… balance! So lets dive in…
I live in Redondo Beach and love a good LA adventure, so it would overall be a mix of the South Bay and some fun in a little north in city! Start off picking up some sandwiches at Boccato’s Groceries Beach in Hermosa Beach (any of the gourmet sandwiches choices are amazing), then we would head down to the beach for a nice day in the sun. Towel off and get ready for a night out in Manhattan Beach starting off with dinner at either Manhattan Beach Post or Nick’s… we might have to flip a coin, or Nick’s butter cake might just make the decision for us!
The next day I would drag my friend for a nice little workout at F45 in Hermosa because… well balance, and the people there are just awesome! Since we worked off some calories it’s time for a drive up to Abbot Kinney in Venice Beach for some people watching and ice cream. I feel like walking that street is like scrolling through the Instagram discover page, but it’s in real life, and your walking down the street witnessing it. For our ice cream stop, we would go to Salt and Straw because I am in the debate as to what is the best ice cream in LA is and I need some more friends to weigh in… don’t worry we will come to a conclusion during the trip. Finish the day at butcher’s daughter… which is a vegan restaurant… to much the disappointment of one of my enthusiastic meat-eating best friends… who after eating there… agreed the food was the bomb in case you have any hesitations!
The next day I would head over to Palos Verdes, where I grew up, and go on one of the many amazing hiking trails where you can see the stunning California coastline. After we would over to Terrenea for a spa day by the pool and head to Handles Ice Cream in Torrance to make the final decision on what is the best ice cream in LA? … Salt and Straw or Handles?
The next morning we would hop on bikes and head up the strand… there is nothing better than watching all the happy dogs, volleyball players, and occasional impressive roller skater… stop at Source Cafe… my favorite is their peppermint cacao bowl… it has this tahini crumble that might as well be magical healthy Oreos… it’s mind-blowing. Probably chill a little bit… Then go out to a concert of some sort in DTLA or WEHO… I love to dance, and in LA there is always some DJ or cool artist in town!
I would probably spend the next few days around the South Bay, maybe get a burger at Rebel Republic… it’s like a fancy Mcdonald’s burger in allll of the right ways or go to Jus Poke for you guessed it Poke, maybe get breakfast burrito at Phanny’s or head up to Marina Del Rey and hit up 21 Beach or Barsha for some brunch!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
In the moments in life where I needed to get out of my own way and go after what I really wanted, my best friend Kristen has always been there as my support and encouragement. She was the one who encouraged me to get my Real Estate license 10 years ago, to become a Feng Shui Practitioner. She helps me to believe in myself so I can accomplish the big things that conjure up in my dreams. I am so grateful to have such an amazing human in my life, she has such an amazing soul and big heart and is always an amazing example to me… not to mention, she helps mommas bring their babies into the world as a doula… if you ever need one! 😉 My family also has always been supportive of my career and cheered me on, they play a big role in my success too and for that too, I am so grateful!
